(Vanity) Make a Difference! Free Republic Folders Search for a Cure for Cancer, Alzheimer's Disease
Stanford University ^ | 01/22/2006 | Texas Booster

OK, new thread for the next week.

First, a big shout out to the SETI and BOINC members who have added CPUs to the effort. Remember, its Team 36120, NOT Team 0.

Next, congrats to all for bumping our team up to 512 processors and 220 user names. We have a number of new users in the team, with over a dozen folders now from GetLoaded.com all popping onto the hit list this week.

We now have ten members who have contributed at least 10,000 points each. Klutz Dohanger, Malsua, Ken in Texas, Andrewksu, LSimpson, kingu, Uriah, arderenne and rach_FR have all reached this milestone. Papasmurf and Senator Bedfellow will join them this next week. Great job!

Even more impressive, our team now boasts 132 members who have folded at least 1,000 points. That is more than the entire number of CPUs folding for our erstwhile left-wing environazi competitors!

Free Republic Folding@Home Stats Page

On the global front, Free Republic Folders is now listed at # 401. We will be in the Top 400 on Sunday!

As we continue to grow there are a number of milestones coming around the bend:

Top 300 by February
Top 250 by the end of the February

We have 800,000 points so far and have folded over 6,400 WU. We will reach an exalted mark of folding a million points per month, each and every month! Fantastic!

Thanks again to all that are helping us advance science and promote the peaceful use of computers.

In India, there is a very low incidence of Alzheimer's and they attribute it to eating the spice, turmeric.

I believe they use a little each day.

Haven't worked the ping list very hard yet. Just got home before the rain and lightening and rushed to pop a new weekly post.

We haven't seen much rain here in Texas lately. I don't know whether to run and hide from the lightening or run outside and dance naked.

Wanna start folding? It's VERY EASY. Download the software here. http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html

For most people it will be the XP 5.03 version. Put in a name, which can be your FReeper handle. Put in our team number 36120. It's as easy as that.

Several spices and peppers are reputed to lower one's chances of getting certain cancers.

This effort is an effort to determine where the weak spots exist in cancers to make medicines more effective, among other concepts.

If you're a man and I was your neighbor---I'd suggest you run outside and dance neeked. :-)

I am a man, but look too much like the Pillsbury doughboy to actually want to be seen in the lightening flashes.

Might scare the livestock and coyotes, much less the neighbors.

Thanks. The estimated completion date for the first WU was March 21, 2007. LOL. After the first 200 frames, it adjusted it to next Tuesday. It's doing 9 sec/frame.
