We're gonna have several days of sun now! Ruthy was just a few days early - she goes home tonight...
Heh...is this the one with the giant radioactive carrot from outer space?
I saw that one...long while back.
Why were all aliens radioactive back then?
Yeah....the giant anthropomorphic radioactive carrot from outer space.
Has to be radioactive so they can use the Geiger counter to track it. :)
Yay! My tomatoes and okra are coming up!
Hmmmm........what do you do about cats with flaky skin?
Is it just 'cause it's such a dry time of year, maybe?
Mine haven't ever really had a problem. The dogs used to in the winter, so we gave 'em some stuff called Lipiderm. Looked nasty, but they liked it and it helped. I think it was mostly fish oil.
Oh, OK. I guess that's a good reason. Sorta. *scratches head*
How hard is it to grow okra, BTW? And what are the plants like - vines or something like beans?
I love okra...
I like the Dreamfields lo Carb pasta. One of my cousins mentioned it when I was at our last reunion. She and her husband own a couple of delis and they use the Dreamfields for 'Lower Carb' pasta salads.
WooHoo! It'll finally earn its keep!
If I remember correctly, okra plants have lovely flowers like squash plants. They remind me of hibiscus!
Do they grow along the ground like squash, too? Or do they need staking?
I guess this is stuff I could Google...
Yeah, I guess so. It just seems like I'm getting a lot of flakes when I groom her.
Heh....just finished Road Warriors of the Lost World on MST3K. It's amazing how much fuel there is and how well the roads are maintained after the Apocolypse.
Hey, just cuz the world's ending is no reason to let construction standards drop!
So I'm guessing the movie wasn't set in Pennsylvania? The roads are already post-apocalyptic there.
Okra grows on a stalk and depending on what variety you've got and how much rain you get, they can get way tall.
Back home we usually seeded them directly in the garden and I always had trouble getting them to germinate even after I soaked the seeds overnight. I guess living 60 miles away from your garden kinda put a damper on keeping the soil moist. :)
Anyway, I soaked these seeds for over 24 hours and kept them moist and they're coming up now!
I've got regular-sized Clemson Spineless and a bush variety.
Kinda looking forward to post Apocolypse....cheap gas, good roads, lots of ammo....
The only time they need staking is after a hurricane has blown them down.
And the outfits are so awesome.
Plus, we could shoot Mr. Beepy and get away with it.
Wonder if they could trace me to WA if I did it right before leaving...
