The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yeah, really...I don't think I noticed much of a taste difference either, just liked the brown appearance. Made it slightly more appetizing to me.

It did turn out good! Except now it's after 2:30am and I have indigestion! LOL!!!

Plop plop fizz fizz.

Morning all! I've got a busy day prepping for Super Bowl - lots of baking and laundry and stuff. Just moment ago Big'ol said to me, "You know it's so and so's birthday tomorrow. Maybe we should have cake." Mmmmmkay another thing added to the list. Oh well!

We had that new low-carb pasta (Dreamfields) last night with dinner and I was bracing for the worst. For some reason they felt the need to add sorbitol and that usually is a nightmare for me. But with the small amount in the pasta and a reasonable serving size it was all ok. Hurray! Low carb pastas sure have come a long way since two or three years ago when they were marketing soy-based cardboard in pasta shapes. *shudder*

Good Morning, coffee has been sipped and gypsygirl believes it's her walk time. Brisk 21 degrees but no wind.

Looks like we're in for another quiet day in the Hobbit Hole.

Hope all's well out in the forest by the western sea.

What's in low-carb pasta? They use some sort of protein, I'm assuming, but what?

Morning! It's very windy here...they're saying gusts up to 45mph or so. Not as bad as the WA hobbitses are getting, but still mighty breezy.

Hullo everyone! We didn't get much storm, really, though they got it bad all around us :~D

Today I think we're all going up to the beach house for the Super bowl...

Hair - that's great, the news here was showing trees down, powerlines down etc. 'Seattle may not be able to see the superbowl today...' Glad you're all okay.

Rosie - very glad we don't have your winds.

OT - just barely remember that one; Jim Arness, "GUNSMOKE" was a show our family always watched.

Well, the beach house says they are still without power, but the generator they've been waiting years to use is runnin' and the cable's working!

This isn't the first time there's been high winds all around us but it hasn't been too bad right here at home. We're in some kind of little hole, protected by the hills around us I guess... They had 58 mph gusts nearby, I don't think we saw any much more than 25.

Heh, hmmm. Generators are important in times like this. Guess there won't be any need for 'calm pony powder or liquid' today.

Say Hey to Ruthy for us.
