Taylor would be a fool to get rid of the gray. Does anyone remember that bit a couple of weeks ago when he showed what he had to do to become "incognito" -- he put on a hat so that no one could see his hair, and then he could go out on the street without people noticing him. That's exactly it -- people notice that hair! And many of the comments from his fans indicate that they like him exactly because he's such an individualist. He'd be a complete idiot to let AI or some stylist talk him out of his current look.

I'm guessing that the article you mentioned is a plant from an AI publicist, and that in reality, he has absolutely no intention of changing. But the whole question has raised a lot of notoriety for him, hasn't it? :)

A word about Clay Aiken. Clay probably could have had a successful recording career, but for whatever reason he has chosen not to work hard at building a show biz career.

Too busy chasing guys, maybe? It's starting to look like it.

Cool upd8!

With all the health trouble Bo's endured, he just might've made Texasflower's underdog list this year.

Hard to say, of course. I used to think Clay was waiting to release his long-awaited second CD after his contractual obligations to AI ran out. But it's been such a long time (going on three years) that it's hard to escape the notion he may just not want a recording career.

Every year he has done a moderately successful tour playing in small venues. He did put out a very successful Christmas album in 2004, and he turns up on TV sporadically. But that's pretty anemic for a guy who had such potential.

Probably so. Heck, he's made it to my underdog list, and I don't even have an underdog list. ;-)

BTW, here's a screen cap of Kelly on AI season one singing 'Stuff Like That There' on Big Band Night. She nailed it. She nailed the 1940's look, the authentic style of swing performances, and the song. Many people say it's the point when she totally separated herself from Tamayra Gray, who was the judges' early favorite that year. They have never done a Big Band Night again. I wish they would do it this year, but they won't. Few contemporary singers, let alone AI contestants, have the vocal chops necessary to do authentic swing.

My husband thinks Katherine looks like Krista Allen, former porn star turned soap opera star turned George Clooney's on and off again girlfriend. Anyone agree?

I just love Kellie! I know she's not the best singer, and last week was tough for her, but I'm proud of her. She's gotten up there every week with a group of very experienced contestants who have trained and performed for years and still managed to hold her own. I think she has a great deal of potential. Having said that, she's not my pick to win. I think Chris will. I could definately see her having a career in music, and her own sitcom though.

OK. I'm going out right now and git me a Kelly Clarkson CD.
Which one do you recommend?

There are only two. Her first -- 'Thankful' -- is pleasant and has two or three top 10 hits on it. It went double platinum. Depending on the kind of music you enjoy, 'Thankful' is a very pleasant album to listen to from beginning to end.

But her second 'Breakaway' is an international sensation. It won her two Grammy awards for best pop single ('Since U Been Gone') and best pop album. It's sold somewhere in the range of 10,000,000 units worldwide and has gone multi platinum in a host of countries (5x platinum here in the U.S.). It's a pop-rock album of real quality.

There's only one song on it I don't like, and that's because of the lyrics (I like the tune). The song is 'I Hate Myself For Losing You.'

'Walk Away,' the fifth single from 'Breakaway,' has become yet another top 5 hit for Kelly.

I got the impression that his CD's sold well. And his concerts. I wondered why you left him off the list of those that have careers.

Probably not. She didn't like the long hair or his style.

Interesting stuff. Maybe he doesn't want the hectic schedule? Why go through al the AI hype if you don't want a career in the field? Maybe he is holding out for a long term Vegas gig?

I think that's what I like about her the most is that she is so very versatile and she made it looks so easy.

They have, but Clay has not put out a new CD in nearly three years. He did put out that Christmas album, but that qualifies as a specialty, seasonal piece. Essentially, he has not put himself out there in the general music marketplace since his first album.

He has done OK with his concerts, too, but only in small venues. He has not graduated to big theaters and arenas.

You can't have a successful recording career if you don't record. I think a big career is there waiting for Clay if he wants it, but he'll have to work at it like everyone else. If he waits too long, his moment will have past him by.

Clay is a mystery. Word is his 2nd (non-seasonal) album will be coming out this year, but we've been hearing about a 2nd album for at least a year.

Kelly has a remarkable talent. Currently she's been on a tour of the UK, Ireland and Europe, and has been playing in big sold-out venues. She finishes this tour with two concerts in Israel, where she's been #1 for months. The Israelis are delighted (she's gotten great press there), because few A-list American acts risk going there.

BTW, so far, the only AI alumn to have visited our troops (that I know of) are Kelly and Josh Gracin. I don't know if Josh went to Iraq, but Kelly did. I know Josh visited troops stateside, and he has written a song for a female Iraqi war veteran/hero.

Kelly had a Christian cross tatooed inside one of her wrists because, she said, it keeps her humble.

Hard saying about Clay then. Maybe we'll see if/when his new CD comes out.

Incidentally, Best Buy isn't a good place to take computers either. Had them replace a video card a few years back and they lost everything on my system. All it was was a black screen with gibberish on it. Then they wsanted to charge me, if they restored it! Told them they had a lot of nerve wanting to charge me for their botched repair. I have never gone back. I try to work on my own whenever I can now. I don't like being without my computer anyway.

Kelly seems to be a remarkable talent and a remarkable person. A class act. I know, so me might disagree and I don't know why she won't let AI use her songs or whatever. But, she must have her reasons. There may be something that we aren't aware of.
