I am a Gay Republican

Posted on 01/02/2006 4:14:15 AM PST by kutwhoredel

I am a Gay Republican but I almost never chime in on political issues. I believe in small government, which the Bush administration has not been good at, as well as low taxes and the free market. I don't believe in manmade global warming and I think environmental activism is mostly a cover for people who want to make more rules to control our lives. Social issues don't get me very excited and I know I should be more grateful to my gay forefathers for all their sacrifices, but I've never encountered homophobia in my entire life so gay rights issues just don't move me but the Bush administrations values towards gays are starting to get out of hand. Yes I supported Bush both times around and no I am not happy with the Republican congress' flagrant expansion of government spending, and I wouldn't mind if they lost their majority this year, it might kick some sense into them - you can be a conservative in principle and recognize the failures of your party in living up to those principles. (That doesn't make me any more sympathetic to the Democrats as the Republicans today are just failed conservatives while the Democrats aren't conservatives at all.) I don't bait people here but I figured it was reasonable to ask how I would be received here?

Why do you find it necessary to share the details of your sex life with total strangers? It would be nice if you would keep it to yourself.

What you do in your bedroom should not be a political issue.

How tough is your hide?

I've only been here a short time, but I would say there are many varieties of FReepers. There are FReepers who are Libertarian who believe in the legalization of drugs. There are fundamental Christian FReepers who are pro-life, anti-drug and who strongly support legislation to protect traditional marriage. Some FReepers are big Second Amendment warriors, some are deeply interested in foreign affairs, others in domestic issues and the economy. (We're all interested in these things to some degree, but some really have a passion for them.)

I am not an "environmentalist wacko," but I do think we need to wisely use and protect our resources. Comments to that effect have drawn a lot of fire from people who call me RINO or worse. A lot of people are not going to agree with your choices. Some will vehemently oppose them. Some will insult you. Some won't care at all. Put on your asbestos underwear before wading into controversy!

Free Republic is a great place to keep up with current events, engage in serious discussion or silly conversation, and get to know some fine conservative thinkers.

So, if you are serious, I've done my best to answer you truthfully and respectfully. If you are trolling, I am finally IBTZ!

I would like to know what you guys would think about me as a Bush supporter?

I would like to know why conflate being a homosexual and a Republican?

I am curious as to precisely which "Bush administrations values towards gays" are starting to get out of hand? I was not aware that President Bush had much to say about gays.

Also, I object to the idea of "gayness" as an identity. I suspect that there are many better things one could define one's life by besides sexual attraction. Politics, religious, national/ethnic, ethical, academic, for instance.

Welcome to FRee Republic.

I'm an incorrigble carpet munch.

You didn't want to know that did you.

I should probably keep that to myself shouldn't I.

That's a two way street.

I like trashy chicks who wear too much eye makeup.

And fat chicks and mopeds are fun to ride until your friends see you on them...

But I wouldn't start a thread on FR about either premise.

Welcome to Free Republic.

You're gay and hoping that the democrats win enough seats to have the majority of the congress just to teach conservatives a lesson?

Time to really come out of the closet, You're a liberal troll, and an uninspiring one at that.

10-4! I made the same mistake and haven't had the nerve to post another thread since.

Yep, bad company certainly woke me up.

Well, the newbie and I seem to have an attraction in common.

But I wonder if he has a nice photo file, too.

I recommend watery tart's profile page.

Funny signing up today to announce to us all that you are gay and asking what we think about it would pretty well fit the definition of "baiting".

Why did you feel you needed to announce your sexual preference if not to get comments (negative if I correctly guess your motivation) so as to go on and report what a bunch of intolerant, hateful folks they are at FR?

Hope you go back empty handed.
