Shameless vanity that ask the musical question: What guitar did you get?
It's so much fun.
Martin dreadnought, completes my wish list.
Didn't get a guitar for Christmas, but I did get some strings for the Gibson EB3L Fretless.
I have a seven string Ibanez. White w/ ebony fretboard and gold humbucker pickups
I bought my nephew a Squier Fat Strat, metallic red w/rosewood fingerboard, white pickguard, and a wang-bar. Oh, and a 15W Marshall amp that has great tone.
I have a 26 year old beater classical that cost $50 new in 1980 (that I play every day), a 5 year old Ovation Roundback nylon-string classical electric, and an 8 string tenor ukelele.
Nothing new this year.
I want your amp!
Got a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails for my Strat...
Cherry Red Epiphone ES-335 (present from my youngest son), and my grandaughter got a black Ibenez SR-400 bass. Life is good!
Not bad at all on that amp. I have a Mesa Boogie right and I would love to add a Marshall stack for my telecaster
The Epiphone is a very sweet guitar. I had an acoustic Epiphone years ago - one of the big dreadnought sizes - and it was a pure joy to play
For a long time I had a Gretsch White Falcon, and sold it for a song because I needed the money for tuition.
Wish I had hung onto it.
Also got for Christmas The Beatles biography by Bob Spitz. It's a very comprehensive biography, and does not leave many stones unturned. Certainly John Lennon is not left in a good light.
I didn't GET one for Christmas this year, but I GAVE 2 Grand-daughters each a Squier Mini and amp/strap/book/bag/cord/picks, etc.
No guitar but I did get the makings for a pedal board for my Bass. Guyatone Compressor, Boss CE-2B Bass Chorus, Boss noise supressor, Boss tuner pedal and a nice powered pedal board and carry case.
SansAmp Programmable bass driver is coming in the next week or two.
I am no musician, but I have been doing my best to give my girlies an ear for the specific instruments that make up music. I now have one who wants a bass, another a keyboard and a third who wants to play guitar like clapton and Stevie Ray. I can see myself getting hammered in lessons and equipment in the near future.
A buddy of mine got one of the 3000 series Les Paul copies, and as a former Gibson LP owner, it is an equivalent guitar at about 1/4 of the price. Very nice stuff...JFK
OK, so i'll have to buy myself a bass at the same time, although i have no clue what to do with it. I love the way they sound in skiled hands, though.
