Christian leaders should be more vocal about political issues and about how we should vote and who we should support. We can have a huge impact on the world when we ban together and put people in power that support our values. The days are long gone when we are relegated to the back of the political bus. We are in power and we will remain in power. We are marching proudly with God on our side. May the left burn in hell.
Everybody . . . have a very MERRY Viking Kitty CHRISTMAS . . .
Bzzzzzt!
Message from God...
Ah HA! Thanks. I grok the zot, but didn't know the acronym.
What was its first post?
Why would we want someone back who can't tell the difference between an Al-Qaeda operative and a U.S. soldier?
So we can explain the difference?
Already tried. In her world people who go out of their way to violate the Geneva Convention should be treated as honorable Geneva combatants. Americans and other honorable troops wear uniforms, avoid targeting civilians, etc., Al-Qaeda guys don't, and Askel thinks they should be treated the same way.
I can elaborate if necessary, but for now I'll just say that she has been banned because when it comes to war and military issues she is a complete barking moonbat and treats those who disagree with her as people who oppose the well-being of our troops. We need that crap around here like a hole in the head.
So? I trust you expressed yourself well. Others read you and can make up their mind.
This is a discussion forum. We need all kinds. She was a good contributor to the religion forum in particular. If she is passionate about the well-being of our troops, that is a premise from which everyone should argue. She is an original and articulate thinker, an asset everywhere.
Well sure we do. Why don't we ask Howard Dean or Skinner from DU to be Freepers and I can argue with them and have the readers make up their minds? This is a conservative discussion forum, and there is nothing conservative about equating the residents of Club Gitmo with the residents of the Hanoi Hilton.
If she is passionate about the well-being of our troops, that is a premise from which everyone should argue.
She wanted child murderers to be accorded the same honor as legitimate soldiers. Geneva protections are an honor due to a combatant who acts like a soldier. Granting them to Al-Qaeda operatives is like giving Tookie Williams a policeman's funeral. If someone wanted Tookie to have a full-honors funeral from the LAPD, would you consider that person supportive of police officers?
She is an original and articulate thinker, an asset everywhere.
Does "original thinker" include her campaign to brand George W. Bush as the foremost promoter of abortion on planet Earth? You know, it's nice and all if she said nice things on some religion threads, but her main angles in the news threads were Club Gitmo=Hanoi Hilton and Bush loves abortion. That stuff belongs at DU. There's plenty of diversity of thought on this forum without that silliness.
No, you are redefining conservatism along the lines of your own brand. Many paleoconservatives opposed the war in Iraq, and many religious conservatives do not find the GOP sufficiently pro-life. I am not going to argue for her positions, whith many of which I disagree myself, in her absence, but I am familiar with her views and it would not occur to me to label them unconservative.
Actually, you are doing the redefining, rewriting my statements to fit some misconception of yours. I said neither of those things, not in my conversation with you or anywhere else.
I did not say opposing the war was unconservative, nor do I believe it to be. Granted, I've been quite hard on the anti-war freepers, but that's because their arguments are dangerous and usually informed more by dislike of the neo-cons than by any actual paleoconservative principle. It is also not unconservative to consider the GOP to be insufficiently pro-life. But then, I never accused Askel of doing that. I accused her of portraying the President as a rabid supporter of abortion, and of equating U.S. military personnel and terrorists. She did both of those things, and that crap belongs on DU.
I'll ask again and add a question: If a freeper called herself a friend of police, but was adamant that Tookie Williams get an LAPD full honors funeral, would you consider that person a supporter of police? And if that person then turned around and accused those who disagreed of being anti-police, would you think they were following the conventions of civil and rational debate; would they belong here?
Ah, OK. Askel would say the darndest things. I see your point. Do you see mine? I cannot defend every post she made, but I can vouch for her character and patriotism. Hers is not two-faced mendacity of the left, but a heartfelt hyperbole coming from the paleocon right. She deserves to be reinstated, -- if of course, she wants to.
