If it stayed entirely private, then I would agree with you. But male homosexuals, in particular, want to spread their bathhouse culture (clubs, bars, etc.) to ~every~ community.

The tragedy brought upon the women and children isn't because the men are "gay" and oppressed by society. It's because the men are selfish and put their own pleasure and desires above that of the people who trust and love them. Just like all of the other "down low" homosexuals spreading diseases and heartbreak to the women who love them.
One of the things I dislike about liberal thought is the fact that "society" is blamed for individual choices and acts. As a Christian, quite frankly, that's abhorrent to me. It's one thing to say that these men couldn't help being attracted to one another. But everything after that point is a choice.
"Star-crossed lovers" is nothing new. How many people involved in opposite-sex affairs have truly believed they were "following their hearts" and fulfilling "destiny" and finding their "soulmate"? What about poor Humbert Humbert? Didn't he love Lolita? That's why the Bible says the heart is treacherous. It's a silly and dangerous notion that you should "follow your heart" regardless of the consequences. And it rises to the level of offensive and disgusting to say that even if the consequences are devastating to people who love, trust and respect you, well, who cares about them, you're in luuuurrrve.
What makes this particular piece of propoganda even worse is the fact that by cloaking the betrayal and immorality in "oh, those poor oppressed gays", it sends the message that all of this is okay.
What's funny is that the one of the characters isn't attracted to any other men besides this one. Other than that, he's completely into women and continues to date them throughout. So don't tell me he had no choice.

No, that's not my position. I full agree that conservatives have a right to speak out against things like for example their children being taught homosexuality in the school against their wishes, and also to speak out against this movie if they wish. I will always support the right of people to speak their minds. I just don't think this silly movie is that big a deal.

I don't claim to understand the reasons for it, biological or otherwise. Why are some people born left handed? I don't know. Is there some physical difference? I think that trying to condition a gay person to be straight has the same chance of success as conditioning you or I to be attracted to the same sex. Not gonna happen.
I know there's the segment of the gay population, the exception to the rule in my view, that just have a perverted streak and decide it's "cool" to be gay or something (or just have a pention to stick it anywhere it fits, in general), but I believe that MOST gay people just have a natural intrinsic feeling of attraction towards the same sex, the same way a straight person is attracted to the opposite sex. I actually feel pretty bad for them, because that would really suck. I consider it just in ingrained disorder or condition if you will. As a Christian I have compassion for them. I can't imagine someone choosing a lifestyle on pusposes that would have them be ostracized for most of their lives. I also suspect that some homosexuality is the result of trauma from sexual abuse suffered very early in life.

True. I was just pointing out to the poster (by making the movie synopsis generic) that the issue of immorality was one that should be condemned regardless of the sexual tendencies of the immoral people. But you are right, the movie tries to make homosexuality acceptable and sympathetic while demonizing those who disagree with the homosexual lifestyle. I shouldn't have let that slip.
The real villian in this movie is apparently "homophobia" because it picks out the worse aspects of anti-gay behavior, i.e., murder, and highlights it. So, yes, the entire movie to my mind is objectionable. I should have made that clear.
I have two questions could they have told the story without the sex part? I am sick to death of any movie always thinking that people want to see them naked or moaning and groaning during sex. Now that we are talking about gay sex, I do not want to ever see gay sex in a movie now or ever. And that is exactly what they are looking to gain for their agenda. If we can just get comfortable about seeing two men having sex we can look forward to more of it. Anything that comes out of hollywood is not about love not a true love story, not any more. They have taken upon themselves to sexualize everything they touch. Even the lives they lead. And for that matter let them try and make a movie where a gay guy has come to terms with his lifestyle and changed through the love he found with Christ. It has happened but you will never see it and I can promise you anyone trying it would receive death threats. Real love is not in a movie real love was on the cross. My son has a good friend who is gay and I can see how difficult it is for him when he hears anything that is not postive in accepting the life style. But I can bet he would not have the desire to go see this movie brokeback mountain.

Try an experiment. The next time you are confronted by a neo-pagan, New Age animal rights eco-fascist who claims humans were not "designed" or "meant" to eat animal flesh, ask them about the origin of their creationist philosophy. Originally, the Nuclear Option Ping List started out as a practical joke. With all the vitriolic response I received from certain un-named individuals, I figured it would be a great idea to do it for real...
I have observed here on Free Republic, a never ending flaming of religious folks and conservatives by people who promote things such as drug abuse, homosexuality, the ritual murder of abortion and other garbage.
Not being an orthodox or ecumenical atheist, it has really stretched my patience. I do not think policemen are jack-booted thugs, nor do I look at people who want to protect their families from filthy scum as brownshirts.
The purpose of this is to alert people to the cultural Marxism run amok... Drugs, sex perverts, pornography (in film and in music), marijuana, liquor, bashing the religious people, destroying social institutions (like marriage and the Boy Scouts), etc., etc.,... ad nausea...
The druggies like the sex perverts can only perpetuate an ever increasing market for their filth by molesting the minds and bodies of the young ones... this is the only way they get new Demo-rat voters... CHEMICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE!
