moning gents.. Hope this weekend is treating you both well & all the singles(and otherwise) who stop by to post or lurk.
I have been out both nights! and pretty covered up during day. still struggling with the no heat / no plumbing problem here. Amazing how we can work around problems when we have to for a bit. But the house is cold, no doubt.
We had another 8" of snow last night & more is to come today.
Lots of good things going on today . My friend & FReeper Wheelbarrow is getting baptized this morning(80 years young) .
He would prolly put most here to shame with his activities.. He goes a couple times a week to singles dances & tears up the floor(those are not my thing but I do now & then & take pix for him), hiking & biking. He lost two wives to cancer & I am sure in many ways could commiserate to the 20 year olds who are single.
After services & Sunday school is a luncheon/theater for the Christmas play.. then dog walk in forest for couple hours & then the community of Walton Hills official "lightening" ceremony.. which we are singing at..
Saw two movies Fri night.. Jarhead & Ice Harvest. both pretty good. Michael Medved trashed Jarhead, but he also has trashed other movies that I really liked, so I didn't put much credence in his words.

I guess I should change the subject from the topics discussed on this 'Singles' Thread. Okay, here goes...................
On a suggestion, I went to SINGLEREPUBLICANS.COM awhile back because of a discussion here on FR. The site wouldn't let you on unless you registered; when I registered I found it was a Chatroom of political topics like FR; as an aside, I have limited time to spend online as an adult and must work for a living and also contribute monitarily to FR anyways; however, I did set up a page for myself to take advantage of the chance of advertising my 'Singleness' and want of Conservative companionship; nothing ever happened; shortly afterwards the site went into "Under Construction" mode and remained that way for 6 months or so before folding completely.
How's that?

Here's topic for discussion; I don't want Cheney going anywhere, someone freepmailed this to me:
"Thursday night, a caller, said he was a top Republican in the San Francisco area, that Cheney and Rumsfeld will go after the state of the union address by the President, said that Condi Rice will be vice and McCain will take over for Rumsfeld."

Here's a comment from another thread worthy of discussion:

This should be a fun thread. We will undoubtedly hear some say they would vote for Hillary before they'd vote for McCain.
As bad as McCain may be, I bet they'd forget that Hillary could nationalize our health care with the stroke of a pen.
She could put troops under control of the U.N. with the stroke of a pen.
She could effectively silence talk radio by reinstituting the "fairness doctrine" with the stroke of a pen.
She could silence dissidents on the internet with the stroke of a pen.
Every group or important individual who opposes her would incur the wrath of the IRS -- she has done it before.
If Hillary shreds the Constitution, who is going to do anything about it? Would she be impeached? No. She could and would do whatever she wants.
She is a Marxist and totalitarian at heart. Her followers are true believes. But that's okay. Keep saying that she would be better than McCain. Can anyone imagine her Supreme Court choice(s)?

Thanks for passing it along and for the ping, Lucy. I had no idea there was a FReeper singles thread.

Sounds like a lot of fun for you. I never do anything, it seems. I keep saying I'm going to later, but it never happens.
I'll be perfectly honest about Medved: he's okay as a political pundit, but I think he's one of the worst movie critics in existence. He hates EVERYthing. I don't even think he likes movies. Ebert's my favorite (I got a personal e-mail from him one time, pardon the bragging).

Unfortunately, we're going to be hearing a lot of junk like this over the next couple of years. No merit to any of it, most likely. Rumors will abound. Personally, though, I have no idea what's going to happen when 2008 finally rolls around.

There's a thread on the main board asking the question: "Will Sen. Joseph Lieberman be tapped next year to become Secretary of Defense as a reward for his support for the Iraq war?"

I saw that.
Beware, though...I remember a FReeper (don't remember his name) presenting me with interesting evidence that Joe Lieberman is not the moderate Democrat we think he is.

I read some of the comments. I agree with some of them when they say that Rumsfeld isn't going anywhere. He once said that he had tried to put in his resignation several times and the President denied it every time.

Vote for Hitlery? NEVER. She is the closest thing in real life to a Sith Lord as pcottraux pointed out so cleverly in one of his cartoons. It if boils down to her and Mccain I will probaly withod my vote alltogether.

I would vote for McCain, but begrudgingly so, and only to keep Hillary out. Much as I dislike McCain...
