Yep, I do like a lot of his skits, actually. I also liked the Carvey/Miller/Hartman time-period, too. I just gave up on it a few years ago when it seemed that only 1 out of 5 skits were even reasonably funny.
Good night.
Goodnight and sweee tdreams
Goodnight and sweee tdreams
well, see, i just found this thread this evening, and , well, someone said they bought a lottery ticket...
that was yesterday, see...
If you think im a loser you might as well be honest about it.
...And then, well someone else said that if God had meant for them to win the lottery he would have left them a winning ticket lying on the sidewalk....
And then YOU said, "well I hope God doesn;t want me to be single..."
So the logical conclusion is...
??
Well sometimes I think I am meant to be single. Something wrong with that?
that if God wants you (me, anybody) to NOT be single then he wouldleve a member of the opposite sex lying on the sidewalk.
See?
Sorry. But I am not good with jokes.
Well if you want to have serious conversation, fine then.
I do not presume to speak for your life, but my perspective is that in these personal things God wants us to be happy, and unless a partner would be a hindrance (a real monstrosity of a personality or whatever... ) to our spiritual life, it is up to us to choose whaether we are to be "together " or alone.
"It is better to marry than to burn".
Burning can be a real spiritual hindrance.
I guess that was a bit opaque.
Humor is all about timing. It was humorous from my perspective, having just read the posts.
Trust me it would have been a riot.

THe ping list scott gave me did not have your name on it. I'll add it.
Ah okay. Sorry about that then.
I read, I understood completely from the first post! I guess it helps that it was my friend who told me that. The whole thing is I would occasionally buy one lottery ticket, I said "if God wants me to win the lottery, I'll do it on one ticket". She said "If God wants me to win, I'll find a ticket laying on the sidewalk". I can certainly see the connection to "I wonder if God wants me to ever marry" and "I guess if he does, you'll find your future wife laying on the sidewalk".
I see it because I was "there". Paul probably was involved in a different conversation on the thread.
PS, I am not here having logged off an hour ago to go to bed. :) Just checking back.
So without being too personal, what makes you feel that way?
Is it the waiting?
I do not think it is God that I am waiting on. I think it is a combination of time and place with circumstance and two people seeing clearly at the identical moment what is before them.
As if that wasn't hard enough to coordinate. It would keep God busy, I think.
God:(OVER THERE OVERTHERE. LOOK. say SOOMMETHINNGG!!)
Me: (Hm, read, read, read... --think think: groceries; read read read; --think: pay the rent and make sure I don't forget to price Bionicles for the birthday party...Read. read...)
Him: Wax the car, wax the car... ---think think: sure is boring out here. I wonder what is on T.V...?)
Death of a perfect happy ending.
Hey Paul, thought I pinged you also to above post but apparently I goofed. Your name was mentioned, here's your courtesy ping :).
Everyone, I am SO sorry I missed out tonight. If we're willing to keep things going tomorrow, I'll definitely be here. No question.
Unfortunately, I gotta' go, as well. But tomorrow for sure.
