Hi'ya all!! Just returned from a dirrer of ribs from Damons. NO Brenda did NOT go-- just me, my sister and my mother. Damons is my favorite restaurant and I love their ribs. My sister was buying mine, as a bit of payback, for all of the meals I bought for her, this spring and summer, when she was unemployed.
Anyway, Paul they're right. Do not sound so defeated. And believe me, I KNOW it is hard. Remember, I have been there, and done that, a lot more times than you--- I do NOT want you to experience some of the pain that I did, with "phony" girlfriends, Hurt of the kind that causes takes a LONG time to heal-- so do NOT get so anxious that you allow yourself to fall for the "wrong one". Instead, concentrate on other things-- like your writing, for example. Me, I have just volunteered to be the vice-president of our radio club, for the next year. I warned them about my nerve problem, and they said they did NOT care. SO, I (begrudgingly) accepted their "nomination". Heck, it may be fun!!
And, I am on ch. 18, over halfway through, reformatting my novel, into a script. I plan to be done by next Sunday night. Then, I will proof it, and send it into the contest, and from there, it will be in God's hands.

How does one grow up to have politics that are vastly different than their folks? I mean... I grew up hearing discussion, arguing with my dad, who would always win, and I ended up with politics very similar to his...
Is it just a rebellion thing? I rebelled in other ways.... Like by not becoming an accountant LOL...

My parents both think Jimmy Carter is a GENIUS. The way they talk about him makes me nauseous.

Most readers here did NOT like that one. They all felt is was too "pessimistic". But I was just trying to compare and contrast the world that I knew, with the one today.

Mine is just the opposite. My father had such a dislike for FDR that he would never pronounce his name correctly, said it like Root only with an "s"instead of the "t".

I can go first if you would like.
Here goes... this one guy was a rather prominent atty in San Diego and we went to this really expensive restaurant for dinner... and he got plastered. On the way home in the car I thought I was going to buy it because he was driving 85 or faster, this was the speed limit was 55, and all over the road. I turned him down after that.

LOL rebellion. At 20 I got sick of my parents running my life. THankfully I had a job by then.

It kind of just happened here, like it snuck in and you didn`t notice it until one day it dawns on you that they had all died.Late 70s-mid 80s I would say.

Lol yeah. My family's pretty hopeless. I'm sure you will instruct them and guide them, kindly but gently to see the error of their ways! I know my grandparents were on this "Roosevelt" kick (best President their ever was), when I tried to explain when Carter was President and the mortgage rate on my house was 17%! that perhaps, you know, he wasn't doing all that good. I was told "history will prove out what a great President he is". haha, well history has not quite proven that out, I'm sure he's a wonderful individual, but a great President he was not!

Let's just say it involved a guy nicknamed "mistafingaz", an unsolicited lapdance and karaoke serenades.
And this was a complete stranger.

I'll do my best. Not easy though as you said and need some outlet for all the harsh feelings.

It's really hard for me because my family likes to pretend like I'm responsible for the entire Republican party. I argue with them a lot. I used to think politics was stupid but I remember having most of the same beliefs when I was 14, way before I ever realized what the rest of my family believed.

You're preaching to the choir here, ma'am.
The problem is that a lot of the chaff from other areas seems to be blowing into Dallas recently.

I know how that feels. I have sent work-in-porgress drafts of mine and so far only three people have showed interest in it.
