You fixed the microwave? Wow! My canister vacuum is having a trauma, but I think it will cost more for parts to fix it than to get a new one. Yah, but it failed in an area of my expertise, and fortunately the technology was from an era where you could still work on things with basic hand tools such as slaughtering irons.
Had it been a modern microwave, or had it suffered any of number of other failures, it would have been toast.

I couldn't get the article to work. They wanted me to log in. I know some professors who subscribe to it. When I get back, I'll see if any kept their copy. Otherwise, it's probably in the university library.

FRiends, I don't mean to cast a pall on this thread, but I have a favor to ask.
A very dear, old friend is having a rough time.
She has just finished a regimen of chemo for breast cancer.
Would you all consider including her in your prayers tonite?
Her name is Sherri. I've known her since she was 16.
Thank you
Bob

Of course.
And you might want to contact Brad's Grandma. She has a prayer ping list I think.

"The 26 year old microwave goes well with the 52+ year old toaster." No, actually in form it's modern enough, with the two slots in the top and the bar you press down. But the cord is (still) wrapped in cloth, and the timer mechanism is pure clockwork mechanical. Every 2 to 3 years we shake the crumbs out of it; every 10 years I open it up, remove the clockwork, open that to get the crumbs out, re-lube and reassemble. It is amazing to see such rugged mechanics in a consumer device; this thing looks like it was built to survive WWIII...
I'd mention all the features it doesn't have... but it's the only toaster I use so I don't know what toasters today offer. Though it doesn't do Internet, and never will.
