As an aside, that Garry Mauro is an oily character, isn't he?

If Card was a big factor in the Miers pick he should be moved elsewhere. It was a big mistake.

Card would inspire as much confidence at Treasury as he did with the inspired Miers pick.

It's well past time to throw that RINO Card overboard.

I'm sure Card is a decent guy, and he has received credit for having almost no ego, but I have criticized him regularly in FR threads. In his public appearances, I've never seen him do anything but artlessly mouth the talking points of the day. No creativity, no insight.

That's fine if your only role is to act as a gatekeeper. But if suddenly you have to step up, in Rove's absence, and provide front-line advice, it can lead to mistakes.

By the way, Fox News is reporting that the White House has announced that there will be no SCOTUS pick announcement tonight.

It seems silly to skip tomorrow because of Halloween, but does anyone doubt that the Barbara Boxers of the world would shamelessly step before a mike and proclaim something along the line "this is the worst Halloween trick the President could have played on the American people"?

If this is true, tn that means Bush can't think for himself, especially in selecting anyone for the Supreme Court. Not to mention the person he selected he has known personally for 20 some years. This is a load of crap!

In a just-completed interview with former Texas Democrat gubernatorial candidate Garry Mauro

I guess getting his ass kicked in an election qualifies him as a Democrat spokesman.

If he was dissatisfied with Card (as well he should be), why would he send him over to Treasury? Let him resign to pursue a run for office in MA, or some other face-saving phrase, but OUT.

President Bush took on the more entrenched holdovers from the Clinton administration. He showed them no prejudice and has allowed them to demostrate their merit or failure.

As President, you don't have the ability or permission to replace 100% of the entire government the day you get elected, even though the msm would like you to think so.

Some wood is good to burn, some starting to rot, and some full of bugs.

Takes time to go through the woodpile.

This was another article on Bush losing faith with top aides:

http://cnn.netscape.cnn.com/news/us.jsp?feature=newz_1005bush_cheney

WASHINGTON (AFP) - President George W. Bush's confidence in his top team of advisors, including all-important vice president Dick Cheney, has fallen sharply in the wake of the CIA leak scandal.

This is a strange assertion. Miers is presently with the President at Camp David helping him determine the next SCOTUS nominee. This has Will, Limbaugh, Frum, Krauthammer,Podorhetz, Kristol and Coulter puzzled and apparently Fox News as well.

Bush was unhappy with Miers so he tried to kick her upstairs to the Supreme Court, and now he's going to kick Card upstairs to Treasury? Whatever happened to the good old-fashioned pink slip?

If anyone finds a media outlet that hasn't totally lost their mind, let me know. I want news from these jerks not speculation! Fox News was my last hope, now I just sorta guess what is going on in the world.

I think Dubya looks a little pissed lately. I think his advisers told him his base would accept her and his advisers were wrong.

I would like to see The Pres appoint a handful of pit bulls and get a little attitude for the remainder of his term.

I think the off year elections will have a very low turn out, and will be decided by base turn out. I would get them fired up if possible.
