Top Five Cartoon Crushes (Vanity)
Posted on 09/01/2005 7:00:11 AM PDT by MadMaxCutlass
As young boys we develop crushes on anything - teachers, movie stars and yes, even cartoon characters. Who did you have a crush on growing up?
(P.S. The animators drew them that way for a reason, fellers!)

If I can give a plug here: Guy Gilchrist, who took over "Nancy" after Ernie Bushmiller passed away, is a very talented Connecticut-based cartoonist (whom I've met at a "furry" cartoon convention in Philadelphia). He also does the comic strips Mudpie, about a young cat, and "Your Angels Speak". He's influenced by everything from Christianity to Hank Williams to the Boston Red Sox. http://gilchriststudios.com/aboutgg.html Guy also designed logos for some minor league baseball teams (in New Britain and Norwich, CT; Portland, ME, and Binghamton, NY). He's been known to call in to Sean Hannity once in awhile.

And hasn't found a state that will do gay marriages?

"Josie" degrees of separation with me:
"Josie" was created by the late Dan DeCarlo of Archie Comics
and named after his wife. He was a guest of honor at a cartoon convention I regularly attend, a few years back.
"Archie" was created by Bob Montana--the real "Riverdale"
is Haverhill, MA; to this day a local paper which runs the
strip refers to it as "Haverhill's Archie". My dad grew up
in "Riverdale".
>>Bob Montana (1920-1975), in 1941, created the "Archie Comic Strip" depicting his days as a student at Haverhill High School (HHS). Montana was a member of HHS class of 1939. HHS is called Riverdale High in the comics presumably because of the influence of the Merrimack River. "The Thinker" stills sits outside at HHS's front entrance. The main characters, Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica and Reggie are all based on Montana's real-life friends at HHS and their teenage adventures.
