IMHO, no big loss. George Lazenby was a better Bond.

Didn't we see a story just like this about a year ago? Bizarre. Wonder if they'll go "color blind" casting for the next Bond. That's the "in thing" now.

Thought they were already narrowing down the selections for his replacement some time ago?

No loss. I never saw one of his Bond movies anyway.

It sounds like he was asking for more money than the studio was willing to pay.

Where was the sarcasm tag? David Niven was a better Bond (in the spoof Casino Royale) than Lazenby. For that matter, Leslie Nielson was a better Bond (even though he didn't play Bond) in the Spy Hard franchise than Lazenby. I think a cardboard cutout of Timothy Dalton, with Conan O'Briens lips moving during the speaking parts, would have been a better Bond than Lazenby. In case I have not been clear, even if they were to cast Ashton Kutcher (Demi Moore's current boy toy) as Bond, Lazenby will go down in history as the worst Bond ever.

Well, he wasn't bad, but he wasn't great either. I just wish he had done a couple more movies to grow into the role. They asked him to, but he refused (and later regretted it).

That said, On Her Majesty's Secret Service is my favorite Bond movie... Great action sequences (the ski chase), the lovely Diana Rigg, and one of John Barry's best musical scores.

The Bond franchise needs to be shelved for 2 decades or so, then aired out, then try something new.

Meanwhile, Hugh Jackman turns down the role.
