In 1984, President Reagan joked during a voice test for a paid political radio address that he had "signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes."
And now,the rest of the story.
President Ronald Reagan,fortieth U.S. President,Delivers farewell address;
"How stands the city on this winter night?" (White House, Washington, D.C., January 11, 1989)(click to listen)
The world has changed so much in 20 years. I like W but compared to Reagan, we have seen 3 mediocre presidents since 88.
He was from a different era. The likes of which we wont see again.
Sorta reminds me of how leftists had an anurism on another web forum I saw a few weeks back about a video of GW flipping off the camera before an address when he was governor of Texas.
Thank you for the reminder. That's a great one.
Ronaldus Magnus is missed. He will be missed through the ages.
Much like we might ask what Caesar Julius or Churchill or Lincoln or Washington might do in a given situation, so too will the wise someday ask "What would Reagan do?"
Turns out he was right. The Soviet Union WAS outlawed.
What do you mean "someday?"
Some of us do that *now*.
Thanks,still brings a smile to my face,and a tear to my eye.
