PRESIDENT Bush takes it on the chin in the new Rolling Stones tune "Sweet Neo Con." In the most political song from their upcoming "A Bigger Bang" album, Mick Jagger sings: "You call yourself a Christian, I call you a hypocrite/ You call yourself a patriot. Well, I think your are full of [bleep]!" Jagger tells Newsweek he's not sweating possible repercussions. "I think [Keith Richards] is a bit worried because he lives in the U.S.," crows the English rocker. "But I don't."

I agree. I've listened to Exile on Main Street at least once a week since, well, we won't go into how long that is. Now this. And from a band that went into exile rather than pay sky-high Brit taxes, you expect a lot more.
I'm such a charitable soul, though, I'm going to write this off to the air-head industry they're in: shallow thoughts, cheap opinions. That way I can keep listening. Otherwise I'd have to throw up.
One thing that I have discovered recently as I have rediscovered older rock is that the Stones have always been overrated as a band. Keith Richards could play some catchy riffs, but his solos were never as good as the top notch players. The vocals come across as very sloppy. Furthermore, they haven't done anything good in over twenty years. On the rare occasions that I hear their newer stuff on the radio, it is lame and sounds like a parody of their older stuff. My picture of a Stones concert is an old Mick Jagger prancing around the stage pretending to be a rock star while a bunch of old women throw Depends on stage.
A sad day for jwfiv ping ... (
I think Laura Ingraham's dictate applies here:
"Shut up and sing, Mick."
"Any bets this tour will not make as much money as previous tours?"
I think every show sold out in hours. I know the one closest to where I live sold out in two hours.
OK, let's see -- don't listen to Stones, don't get mortgage from Ameriquest, stop watching NFL games, don't turn the television to ABC, and no Red Sox games. I'm sure I'm missing some.
Note to self: Don't patronize any sponsor of the tour.
As Joan Rivers once said, "Mick Jagger is the only guy she knows who could french-kiss a moose."
I wrote a parody song, "I Can't Get No Medication."
Well, well well. Hey Mick, doesn't mean much to someone like you but the Rolling Stones lost a fan after reading about "Sweet Neo Con". No matter how many ex-fans turn their back on them, they'll always have enough cash for Keith's heroin.
This could really get fun if some pressure builds on Monday Night Football and ABC. Maybe more fun to watch than the games themselves.
If the effects of one's life last no more than a generation past one's death, that is a loser.
Before I get hate mail...even if all you do is contribute to the raising of your children to be better people, who in turn inspire their children, you are not a loser. On the other hand, if you spawn demon seeds and waste your life in leotards, you are a loser.
The Stones inspired a drug culture. But, they never really inspired a musical change. Almost everything they did was ripped off from somoene else.
Looks like their newest Steel Wheelchairs tour wasn't getting enough attention. It never fails, if your career is in the crapper, bash Republicans.
...Mick Jagger sings: "You call yourself a Christian, I call you a hypocrite...
You call yourself a rocker, I call you a senior citizen.
You call yourself a badboy. I think you're full of excrement.
best reply is the one Dylan made in 1981:
Go ahead and talk about him because he makes you doubt,
Because he has denied himself the things that you can't live without.
Laugh at him behind his back just like the others do,
Remind him of what he used to be when he comes walkin' through.
He's the property of Jesus
Resent him to the bone
You got something better
You've got a heart of stone
Stop your conversation when he passes on the street,
Hope he falls upon himself, oh, won't that be sweet
Because he can't be exploited by superstition anymore
Because he can't be bribed or bought by the things that you adore.
He's the property of Jesus
Resent him to the bone
You got something better
You've got a heart of stone
When the whip that's keeping you in line doesn't make him jump,
Say he's hard-of-hearin', say that he's a chump.
Say he's out of step with reality as you try to test his nerve
Because he doesn't pay no tribute to the king that you serve.
He's the property of Jesus
Resent him to the bone
You got something better
You've got a heart of stone
Say that he's a loser 'cause he got no common sense
Because he don't increase his worth at someone else's expense.
Because he's not afraid of trying, 'cause he don't look at you and smile,
'Cause he doesn't tell you jokes or fairy tales, say he's got no style.
He's the property of Jesus
Resent him to the bone
You got something better
You've got a heart of stone
You can laugh at salvation, you can play Olympic games,
You think that when you rest at last you'll go back from where you came.
But you've picked up quite a story and you've changed since the womb.
What happened to the real you, you've been captured but by whom?
He's the property of Jesus
Resent him to the bone
You got something better
You've got a heart of stone

What a hypocrite.
they sold out to ameriquest . . . I was already on it. I guess two sets of scumbags need each other.
I'm not sure why anyone went to the concerts anyway. I mean, there are 5 guys in the band, and their stuff is not at all difficult to play. Yet, on stage, there are like 10 or 12 backup players. It's pathetic.
LOL! This *literally* made me Laugh Out Loud!
Well, I grew up with the Stones, and I have a six-year-old daughter now. Every time she gets petulant because I won't buy her some toy or knick-knack that she can't live without, I break into a chorus of: "You Can't Always Get What You Want."
She really hates that song now, but she gets the point.
So if only in this tiny way, Jagger has made a positive contribution to the raising of the next generation.
Maroon 5? What have they been saying? I have a CD of theirs that I'll have to add to my burn pile.
