Hi...got a question for your "kitty" people. Our cat Snowflakes has this round sore spot. I remember my horse, and another cat getting something like this, and it was from a some kind of insect bite. They lay an egg or larva on the bite wound. We have put peroxide and Vaseline on it, hoping to kill the larva. Have any of you ever seen something like this? He is losing the hair around the wound. Or know of the kind of insect that does this. Thanks.

Looks like it might be a nasty spider-bite to me, but I'm far from an expert. Let's see if we can find one.
KPL'ers: Please check out post #45.

Is Snowflakes an outdoor kitty?? I'm no expert, but it looks sorta like a chigger or flea bite. Poor kitty! I hope you find out what it is for sure and that Snowflakes gets better soon.

Poor kitty! I haven't seen anything like that. You might have to call a vet.

Do you think it could be an abcess from a cat fight--either cat bite or or cat scratch?
To: MissTargets
I would race that cat to a vet. Looks infected to me. Definitely looks as though it will require an antibiotic injection, salve, something. Hope all turns out well. Kitty has got to be very uncomfortable. Please keep us posted. Thanks.

My fuzzy little guy had a problem like that. He got one on his chest. I summoned my vet who told me that it was either cancer or an allergic reaction. He administered steroids, and it went away, so it was obviously an allergic reaction.
This is something you should summon a vet for.

You should get that cat to a good vet as soon as possible. I dont mean to cause alarm, and that sore isnt likely to be life threatening. I would bet that a good vet could have that cleared up inside of a week...JFK

Snowflakes is definitely going to see the vet for this sore. He went missing about a week ago for a few days. He is an indoor cat (neutered male), but does go outside. When he came back the left side of his face was swollen and he had a small mark behind his whiskers. At first it looked like a BB gunshot. Then he started to lose the hair, and this sore appeared, after the swelling went down. I will let you all know what it is after the vet visit......thanks for the concern.
To: MissTargets
Looks like an abscess from a scratch or bite to me. If so, you'll need to see a vet to clear it up.
I would get her to a vet asap.

LOL.
Steve Martin is classic.
He should be the permanent host of the Academy Awards.
Maybe people would actually watch it.
To: MissTargets
Has the kitty been around other cats? If so it's prob a cat bite. They heal quickly on the skin but fester underneath.
