Maybe it's Harry. Remember when Dumbledore is speaking to Harry about his parseltongue ability. He avers that Harry also received other talents and powers from Tom Riddle when he survived the death curse and received the scar.
Riddle wants to become Harry and this might be the penultimate battle!
thats a good thought about hiding a horcrux in one of the former headmaster and headmistress's portraits thats a place where no one would expect but V obviously had access to in his days at hogwarts wat former headmaster or mistress would help out V though? And it could be the sword thats what DD thought it was right? or the hat who knows?
i didnt know there was a picture of godric gryffindor in the DD's chambers (idk is there)? but i guess it has to be something to do with gryffindor i think its harry
so they got the ring from salazar slytherin wat did they get from Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw? im having a mind block i need to finish rereading it im only on page 200 something
If Harry's the Horcrux, he'll have to die... maybe Ginny's the Horcrux and he'll have to choose between saving her and saving the world...
I don't believe that but it's a fun speculation!
That is a long article!
Hi, Jen!
I imagine that Lilly Evans (Potter) was supposed to be a "reward" for Snape in exchange for giving LV the information about the prophecy.
The WHOLE thread? Is this detention? ;)
There's a debate within the DTogo household as to whether Snape was acting on D's orders or not. And I'm still disappointed that Harry hasn't picked up on more unconventional magic like his Dad when he was younger - for mischief or combat purposes.
Hi Pip!
Why is it, folks, that we all want to see Snape as a man caught in a horrible situation?
I'm really curious about that. I've admitted it before, I'll say it again: It's all because of Alan Rickman. He's to blame!
And another thing...when could VM have turned HP into a horcrux? I just don't see it.
Wow, thanks for posting the link to the article. More food for thought on HP.
I think they are going for when Voldy tried to kill Harry he inadvertantly turned him into a horcrux. I don't see it either. That would mean if Harry were a horcrux that he would have to kill himself or be killed to get rid of Voldy. I just don't see JKR killing off the hero of the series. It would be such a let down.
Here is some of my take on it (with spoilers):
First off, I read elsewhere someone saying it took them two minutes to figure out who the Half-Blood Prince was, as if they were just so enlightened. Thank you very much, I'm so proud of you. As for the rest of us, I did not see Snape being this title character. I also did not see him actually killing a weakened, defenseless Dumbledore the way he did. But it is possible he did it due to the Unbreakable Vow.
Then you have Draco Malfoy. His mission was to re-construct the Vanishing Cabinet in the Room of Requirement as a way to get Death Eaters into Hogwarts. But then you find out it was done under some kind of duress, namely the threat of death for Draco and his parents. The thought of this made Draco sad, and coupled with his unwillingness to kill Dumbledore, if Snape has indeed switched sides, then perhaps we will see Draco do the same in Book 7.
Ring - destroyed
diary - destroyed
locket - Slytherin - mention of a locket at Grimmauld Place no one could open
cup - Hufflepuff
snake - maybe
something of Ravenclaw's-don't know what it is
V himself
These are the suspected Horcruxes, that leaves nothing of Gryffindor's, which leads me to believe that the snake may not be one.
But the Rupert "slip?" It was not. By this time, people are associating Rupert Grint with Ronald Weasley. Jo knows this, so it was done with a knowing wink to the reader (and perhaps Rupert, too).
I'd bank on that.
The theory, such as it is, is that VM transferred part of his soul into Harry at the same time he transferred certain if his powers into Harry (e.g., the ability to speak Parseltongue). That is, at the same time he failed to kill Harry. He'd already killed Harry's parents, so the requisite murdering had already been done. The horcrux could very well be Harry's scar. (Supposedly the last word in Book 7 is "scar." Perhaps the offending sentence will read something like, "for the first time in his life, it was just a scar.")
There is a very short scene in Order of the Phoenix that may support the theory -- where Dumbledore consults one of his odd instruments. Two snakes appear and intertwine, and Dumbledore says something to the effect of "but in essence divided."
I thought it was a joke on her part too, pretty funny. I too, was not enlightened about who the half blood prince was.
Not necessarily. Slytherin's ring was not destroyed, and neither was Riddle's diary. The trick would be to release the piece of soul without killing the host (Harry). It'd be an interesting climax.
