Today is the 4th of July 2005 – America’s Birthday which commemorates the Continental Congress adopting the Declaration of Independence on 4th July 1776.

President George W Bush commemorated the day by visiting West Virginia University Morgantown, West Virginia, he gave an address and afterward he greeted the crowd by signing autographs and shaking hands of military personnel.

It was announced today that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will visit tsunami-hit parts of Thailand next week.

On Saturday Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld acted as Grand Marshall at the Pepsi 400 NASCAR Race at Daytona.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

That's what I thought!

I knew she couldn't be a direct descendant of President Pierce as his children all died very young with the last of his son's being kiled in a trian wreck just about a month before Pierce was inaugerated.

The boy was only 11 yrs old.

This must drive your NJ bunch crazy.

There are not many left. Mr.FF thinks it is very cool. His parents, aunts & uncles are all gone now, his brother lives in southern CA and we don't talk to his sister! lol

Last year we were able to stay at a B&B that is the original house built by my 8th great-grandfather around 1675-1680. It's now back in the family (long genealogy story about that). I think I've told you this...

I'd say at least 90% of my family tree is on my dad's side. For my mom, I can't get earlier than mid-19th century. I need to delve into German ancestry and I'm not good at that yet.

We have 5 different fireworks displays within 5 miles from our home and since we live on top of a ridge, we get a great view of all of them right from our Deck

Mr.FF just chuckles at me about this, but I actually DREAM about Australia. I've never been there but I literally have dreams about going.

Happy Fourth to you as well!

How is your SIL? Still up and running? Did you get a full accounting from your grandsons of DisneyWorld?

I need to delve into German ancestry and I'm not good at that yet.

I have done tons of my many German lines.
Many back to 1500s.

You have to know that the spelling of surnames change,
various spellings, and know the history of the various
German states and the border changes.
What german State are you working in?

mom's family was kind of easy as they basically just came off the boat in comparison to my dad's family, I still haven't gotten to his immigrant anscester. but I'm firmly convinced that eat came from England.

Yes, German anscenstry can be daunting especially when you have traced your anscesters as far back as to Germany and you cant speak enough German to look up or read any of the older documents that exist, another culprit is WWII! when a lot of places were records could be found were destroyed during that war.

You also have to be careful about many of the sites on
the net as they have tons of errors.

The LDS site is one also with tons of errors.

did you do any researching in the Bavaria area?

My mom's GGG-Grandfather was born in a town called Oberstreu (The spelling might be off but this is what I gathered the name was) My GGGG-Grandfather's surname was Fuchs
