I'd say at least 90% of my family tree is on my dad's side. For my mom, I can't get earlier than mid-19th century. I need to delve into German ancestry and I'm not good at that yet.

I need to delve into German ancestry and I'm not good at that yet.

I have done tons of my many German lines.
Many back to 1500s.

You have to know that the spelling of surnames change,
various spellings, and know the history of the various
German states and the border changes.
What german State are you working in?

mom's family was kind of easy as they basically just came off the boat in comparison to my dad's family, I still haven't gotten to his immigrant anscester. but I'm firmly convinced that eat came from England.

Yes, German anscenstry can be daunting especially when you have traced your anscesters as far back as to Germany and you cant speak enough German to look up or read any of the older documents that exist, another culprit is WWII! when a lot of places were records could be found were destroyed during that war.
