In a surprise announcement John McCain stated that he's running as a democrat for president in 2008. Today in a speech in Washington DC, he announced his party change. Only Arizona Newswire was there to cover it.
"I look at the party platforms, and I am closer to the democrats on major issues. I support the 2nd amendment right to hunt, but I also support for gun control. I think violent events such at Ultimate Fighting need to be banned. I destest these issue ads in campaigns that distort my record. I support going after tobacco companies. I support ending global warming. I oppose tax cuts. These are all democrat issues, so I have decided to finally join my good friend and war hero John Kerry in the party I agree with." McCain said to a large crowd of 50. He later continued, "How dare do the republicans question John Kerry's patriotism! It's time to take the patriotism card away from the republicans, the NRA, the Swift Boats, and the right wing wackos out there. This is why I have decided to run for President of the United States. This is why I am running as a Democrat, and if any of my opponents want to question my patriotism, bring it on!" to the eruption of the crowd.
The Republican Party could not be reached for comment.
His ACU and ADA along with other ratings all put him in a "leans" conservative category.
He'd be a rancid right winger in a democratic primary.
To us, he's a rino, but he's to far right of center for a socialist party.
That said, this should have been labeled satire or had sarcasm tags.
With that statement Kerry is sure to be his VP.
good one
Well, McCain and Dean would make a great pair.
That's your hint. If this story were true, no matter how many people were in the room at the time, the MSM would say there were "thousands".
I suggest waiting for confirmation on this. It may be a trial ballon from the other party.
I wasn't aware that McCain was ever a Republican?
I thought the term Jonathon McDough gave it away.
To me, 50 people is not a large crowd. 500, 5000, 50,000. Those are large crowds.

Senator John McCain, shown here after a practice session with mentor Howard Dean, is confident he can master the art of the "political scream" for his 2008 presidential run.
What McCain was a Republican????
Nah, I just thought he was an unknown MacDonald Land reporter.
If McCain wanted to he could win the Democrat primary.
The MSM is not in love with Hillary Clinton. They are not inspired by anyone potentially running on the Left. The two people they adore are a) McCain b) Colin Powell. The trouble is that technically they align with Republicans in affiliation.
The moveon.org base is not in love with Hillary either, but McCain has satisfactory stabbed G.W.B. and conservatives in the back often enough to generate some affection. They'd support him. IMO, McCain would unify the Democrat Party better than Hillary ever could.
Could he win the general as a Democrat? Undecided.
This is why McCain isn't likely to switch. He feels the best way to reach the W.H. is through the Republican Party apparatus at this moment in time. As a Democrat with the liabilities of their Michael Moore's it wouldn't be certain.
Also, if he did lose the presidential race he becomes just one of many Democrats in the senate. His effectiveness as a "maverick" is dependant on being a Republican.
If anyone can beat Hillary, he can.
Only Arizona newswire was there to cover it?
Yeah, right....
Kind of a neat idea, pulls the "conservative" Democrats
away from the "wandering" Hillary, splits out the Dems,
from the lefto wackos and demonstrates their real
party base....
No surprise to me!! He has always been a closet democrat.
