Point taken.
It's impossible to tell what the "party line" really is.
There are wide differences of opinion even in the GOP.

I may be wrong on some issues, I only heard of one perfect man and they killed him, if so give me your thoughts in a civil manner and will consider them. I like to study various opinions on any issue.
Conservative, just exactly whai is a conservative and who decides what is a conservative?

What I would like to see in FR is a more civility. Just because someone dosent agree with you lock step there is no sense in being insulting. Just point out where I may be wrong and will give it consideration

I dont mean you personally rdb3, just what I have observed here in FR recently.

" Duff, I think it is entirely appropriate that you posted this. MadIvan has been a favorite of many FReepers."

I Agree. I lurked here every day for 4 + years before my first reply to a post last Feb. I have read many posts and replies by MadIvan and I consider MadIvan a valuable participant to FR.

I am glad Duff brought this to our attention.

People have become too easily offended.

Yup - the more easily offended we become, the more liberal we become.

Hey, lets get the ACLU to sue everyone/everything that offends us, hey wait a minute......(BARF)

Howlin: So many of the "terri was murdered folks" stood in front of that hospice/nursing home and did nothing. The stood and watched as their perception of murder was carried out. The stood by and did NOTHING. They stood and waited for others to act. They decried the fact that others did not act or act in the right way. For as much blood as they want to put on everyone elses hands, there is just as much if not more since they STOOD, WATCHED AND DID NOTHING.R
Funny, nobody mentioned Terri Schiavo on this particular thread--until you did.

Conservative, just exactly whai is a conservative and who decides what is a conservative?

That's the million dollar question. I don't refer to myself as a "conservative," for that means that I want to conserve something. There's little in our government that I wish to conserve, for it has shifted too far to the Left over the last 70 years. I'd rather be thought of as a radical reformer.

Some say, rightly most of the time, that we no longer live under the Constitution. Therefore I ask, "What are you a conservative for, then?" If we don't live under it anymore, then we can't logically conserve it. A societal reformation would be in order. And you know who the "true conservatives" really are? NOW, the NAALCP, the Congressional Black Caucus, Earth First!, the AFL-CIO, the NEA, and the DLC. They wish to "conserve" the status quo.

But for those who make an idol out of being a conservative (self-worship), I let them have that term all to themselves.

An continuously negative echo chamber is what some want here. They surely follow each other around and/or ping each other.

And then accuse those of us who click on a thread because it's at the top of "Latest Posts" of doing that and being part of a group and they cap it off with taunts that "we" (the phantom "group") are losing the forum.

I think Ivan is reacting to a small group of bigots.

The problems with FR of late are not confined to this one issue.

Oh, you're right, but then again, it probably would have happened sooner or later.

Secondly, FR really has never changed. What's happened is that some folks have never been challenged and when they are, then the forum has changed. I can be on your side on one controversy and be opposite you the next day.

FR has indeed changed.

I am one who could argue strongly with others on one topic yet maintain mutual respect and on other topics we did not carry any rancor over but would be able to get along just fine.

It's complicated but real and should not be dismissed. And I've been one who in the past has disputed with those who claimed the forum had changed. Now it really truly has.

She is pointing out part of the problem. In order to fix it one must bring it up.

So let it go then. Noone has been charged with "murder" in this case, as you stated 3 times in one sentence.

Again, I believe it relates more to the topic rather than the character of the forum. I looked up your start date and you didn't survive some of other wars that have gone down during FR's past, unless you've changed your screen name.

If you didn't live through the primary in 2000 between the Keyesters and the Bushbots then you haven't seen nothing. There have been various meltdowns and re-entrenching cycles. Some people go, others are banned, and yet over time a hot topic will come up and the flames begin. And all the while the forum continues with good information and hot conversation. Some people just need to be a little thicker skinned and less offended by some rough and tumble stufff.

Honestly, I've seen some of the loudest complainers that the forum has changed be some of the harshest flamers. Again, it's situational perspective. And yes, some people are jerks. We've just got to love em and learn to live with em.

Most FR folks believe Terry was murdered. There was a poll that showed than. You know that. I don't think most folks think the Brits are not friends and allies.

If someone wants to leave, it ought to be over a correct understanding of the beliefs.

OH!

In order to complain about people always bring "it up" one must constantly be the first one to bring "it" up?

Oh-OK.... (*snicker*)

I have read this forum since September 1997.

I have a valid and informed perspective. If you wish to dismiss it, that's your perogative, but many others are seeing what I'm seeing.
