Perhaps some of you would like to wish him well.

I don't know how small they are, but on this and many contentious subjects, they sure are loud.

They always are.

... Personal note to MadIvan posted on original thread...
Thread cross-referencing like that shows an inability to let something go. Sure, we were all disgusted by Terri Schiavo's excruciating two-week murder, but discussion about her murder should be left for those threads which deal with her murder and those who abetted it.

I've read some of Ivan's work and it's neither inspired or incited me.
I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the fact that in the UK, the conservatives have been nipping at liberal/labour Blair's heels over Iraq, where in the US it's just the opposite, the liberals snipping at the conservatives in this country.
But this forum is no better nor no worse than it was in at its inception.
Ping!
lol
Bumparooski.
When Sean Hannity made the statement that it seemed to him that FReepers were eating each other alive IMO he was correct.
I used to really enjoy the friendly debate here, sometimes very spirited but always friendly.
Now it seems that any opinion other than the exact "party line" opens one up to all sorts of name calling and insults.
I certainly understand Mad Ivan's motivation.
I don't go back (Jan 98) as far as you do, but I agree with your post 100%. The forum is just BIGGER - - more voices.
But wait a minute.. who is bringing it up here? I wish you would let it go as well.
That's very true. Much more hostile environment. I a newb but really a long-time lurker with simply a new name. Seems like some folks want to work the messenger, not the message. PS Ivan: You are a true patriot.
Get back to where you once belonged. Get back here MadIvan.
DONT GO!
Unfortunately, too many conservatives are thin skinned and when they can't defend a position or are challenged, then suddenly everyone is eating their own.
In general, conservatives have high standards and when those standards are encroached on, they get testy. Sometimes Sean crosses that line and when he does, he wants to do it with impunity. Let's face it, it's a fact Sean doesn't have the ability or at least hasn't displayed the ability to disect an issue like Rush. On the other hand, it does appear that Sean lives closer to the walk a conservative has to walk than Rush. Rush has the ability to self promote an brag and get away with it. With Sean, it's generally irritating. But clearly he's upset that anyone calls out those "weaknesses" as eating one's own.
It's not just Freepers, it's conservative in general. Look at the number of JR insiders of the past who have left in one snit or the other over time. Two that come to mind quickly are CAL and Don Morgan. There have been several others. Yet these too are some of the first people who claim FR eats their own. Well, folks, it takes two to tango and the people cited and many more have spent time feasting at the conservative cannibilism trough, and then cry fowl when it's aimed at them or someone close to them.
Now I know you're not that obtuse.
I have recieved a couple of messages like that as well. Terribly myopic and one-issue oriented.
Please don't leave friend, we'll miss you. (PS. We'll single out the a$$holes and flame back at them.)
