73 Pantywaisted Texas House members voted to approve HB3 on Monday night, March 13. HB3 hits small businesses and regular citizens with new and increased taxes The Republicans have charge of the Texas Legislature for the first time in a century and they voted for a HUGE NEW tax!! What are they thinking??!!
I am asking all citizens to send the Republicans (and Dems too if you want) who voted for the tax a pair of PANTIES since they proved they are sissies! (You can buy a yellow pair at Walmart for 88 cents.) Send the panties to as many BAD House members that you can afford to.
All House members (especially Republicans who voted for the tax) deserve the panties!! Let them know you think they wimped out by sending them a new selection of underwear!!! REMEMBER, THESE PEOPLE GET THE PANTIES!!!

The House members disregarded the Will of the People and voted to keep their political careers intact by voting to RAISE and CREATE NEW TAXES instead of listening to us!! We have to let them know we are watching them!!
Now, we have to start applying the pressure to the Texas Senators who think they can get away with passing this junk legislation on to the governor for signing!
We will fight and we will WIN!
While you're thinking about it: Send a kind note or phone call to the good guys who voted AGAINST the tax. REMEMBER, THESE ARE THE GOOD GUYS--BE NICE TO THEM! These folks voted NO! (click here to determine your representative and find their contact information)

I see neither of you has bothered to follow the fact that for the last three legislative sessions they have tried to get this tax to bring down, and lower the cap on property taxes. I am not so much in favor of this but you two should at least have some idea of what you are talking about, or is that not conservative?
"Just as long as they're clean!;]"
I suppose they should be. Seriously, don't let people get you down on this idea. Sarcasm is a powerful weapon. Get personal. It's a great idea! To heck with whether it's 'revenue neutral'. No need to get bogged down in splitting hairs. You want headway. And you aren't alone. A cigarette tax, BTW, is really a poor tax, a tax for being poor.
A snack tax is also a regressive tax, in other words, a tax that unfairly picks on the poor.
So is your state's outrageous gas tax, if I'm not mistaken.
Don't look for too much encouragement here. Some folks will try to knock the wind out of your sails. Better to hit the streets. [Telling myself that, too.]
FReegards....
Thanks for the list.
CK It's time to rid the state of these people FReep time. Let them feel the heat. They didn't increase the tax on their favorite drink - wine/etc but bottled water=yes! Now they have made a California girl mad, messing with my water.
PING
BTW, we just did something like this by sending PINK panties to a Nascar drivers crew chief for being and acting/fighting like a "girlie man". They all need to stop wasting money and STOP taxing all of us.
An increase is an increase. "I'll raise this and lower that". Isn't that about it? Why be satisfied?
' BTW, we just did something like this by sending PINK panties to a Nascar drivers crew chief for being and acting/fighting like a "girlie man". '
Ah! Great concept! Girlie men. Heheheh!
The text of the bill is here.
It's simply a bunch of new taxes. And, another income tax just like the so-called corporate franchise tax is that was passed a few sessions back. The Texas Constitution prohibits an income tax unless it's approved by in a statewide referendum . See here.
The hook on all of this is more of the "for the children" pablem we hear so often. That this is for "education". Well, it's not. I called the bill sponsors office, James L. "Jim" Keffer" (512-463-0656) and talked to Tori Lange (she was very nice). All the money gets dumped into the general revenue fund. None of it is in any way shape or form specifically earmarked for education.
By the way, if you want to call someone in the Legislature go here. Don't just call and talk to whoever answers the telephone, ask for a specific staff member.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying taxes. But until the state of Texas ejects every illegal mooching off of my hard work fromm this state and send them back to where they came from I'm going to be very negative to them raising more money from me to give away to people I should not be supporting.
KILL THE TEXAS FATA$$ TAX!!!!
As Arthur Wildfire! said before, it's a shell game. A true conservative would look at ways to cut spending, rather than shift the tax burden.
That property tax decrease is not going to make much of a difference when businesses start passing their tax increases along to the consumer.
I propose we start sending Rick Perry Snickers Bars in protest. But I'd doubt he'd get the point unless someone carefully explained to him that we were not sending him candy because we like him.
Rick Perry, nice hair but nothing under there.
I would add, a tax structure is better when it rewards job-based investment. I'm not clear how rewarding real estate based investment will create jobs. It's just an aside.
But we might as well keep it simple. They want people to 'slim down'. They need their BUDGET to slim down!
How about slimfast coupons? "I want the BUDGET to slim down!"
Interesting, given that my rep is on the list (is your's?) and is a non-drinking Southern Baptist.
I don't believe I said that they were mutually exlusive. One more time for the cheap seats, a true conservative would look at ways to cut spending, rather than shift the tax burden.
I see you're more interested in the property tax carrot they are hanging out in front of you rather than the big picture.
No. I'm interested in BOTH and this is half the equation. You started a thread about something you knew nothing about, and seem upset when facts are pointed out to you. Property taxes are driving people out of their homes and this bill is PART of the solution.
You may be getting a "break" on the property taxes but they are screwing you everywhere else.
First off the State sales tax goes up 1% on EVERYTHING.
Second the tax on bottled water, soda, chips, cookies is 3% ADDITIONAL bringing it to 10.25% STATE tax plus your local & county taxes.
Third your employer will be paying an income tax on your salary or paying a franchise tax, which in the long run will come out of your salary by not getting a raise (or as big a raise)
If you put it to a number crunching you'll probly find that it will cost you MORE that if things stayed the way they are now.
And from what I now see a $1.00 per pack oinkcrease on smokes.
I would prefer to see the state reduce all taxes and cut spending, but I want property taxes cut, period. I'll take this and continue to fight for the rest.
Interesting idea.Texas Freepers a Call to Arms! The Panty Brigade
