Condoleezza for President?
Self | 02.16.05 | Dr. Marten

Posted on 02/16/2005 5:18:27 AM PST by Dr. Marten

I am quite certain that I am not the first individual to give this idea serious thought, so I am hoping that a few of my fellow freepers out there will lend me a few of theirs.

It is almost certain that Hillary will try to make a run for the White House in 2008 and if she does, she is almost certain to pose serious competition to any Republican challenger for obvious reasons.

1. She is a female. Feminists would fall all over themselves to put someone like her in office.

2. Who else do the dems really have at the moment with the prospect of taking their party anywhere?

3. See #1. She is a female, there are many reasons that others would like to see her take the highest office in this land.

In my thinking I see Dr. Rice as our greatest threat to Hillary.

1. Her qualifications are far superior to anything Hitlery has to offer.

2. She is also a female.

3. She is a Black Female, which takes the spotlight off of Hillarys sexual status and it takes it to another level with Dr. Rice being a colored American. This not only provides a role model for women as a whole, but also for black Americans altogether.

Of course, she is a conservative and often times viewed as a "hawk", but with that being said - what do you think?

I hate to say it but, she'd cost us some electoral votes in the Deep South.

I disagree with this. I think that there would be some votes lost in the "deep south" but I don't think entire states would go that way. I also think that she has an upside in the South as she is one of theirs. Those refusing to vote for someone based on their race or gender will be left behind eventually anyway; let us all look at her accomplishments and the contributions she can make and decide on that. When the choice is framed this way she will do well and she's earned it.

"She'd have to get out there and fight it out with the big boys. IMO she'd make a more effective VP."

A VP to whom exactly?

I don't mean that in an antagonistic way, I'm just sayin'.... who do you have in mind?

"I don't know about that. You think some (conservative) southerners would vote for Hillary over Dr. Rice? Some undoubtedly would, but enough to swing some states?"

Considering the slim margins by which Kerry won some states, I think she'd swing a few.

<< Condi Rice is simply the most qualified person in the United States to become the POTUS in 2008. She has my vote!!! End of story!!! >>

You must know a lot more about her than I do, though most of what I do know is very good, very impressive.

I keep asking this honest question periodically, and will, until someone can point me to a sourced, unambigious, direct answer from Dr. Rice. If you can, you'll be the first. Here 'tis:

What is her position on abortion, exactly?

you ... are living in ... a dreamworld

This from someone who wrote, "Condi Rice is simply the most qualified person in the United States to become the POTUS in 2008"? And then you presume to compare zarf to the Democrats?

Wow. I can't help but wonder if you'd be singing a different tune if Condi were a white male.

I do not believe that. There are more black legislatures in the South than there is in the North East.
I think she is really sharp but... does she have something in her closet that has not been vetted yet?
Is she gay? Can anyone say for sure?
Just asking.

An important issue is that she has never held or even run for an elected office. Therefore, her record and positions on domestic issues are a blank. She has never run a campaign and the trek for POTUS is not a good one for newbies.

I hope she continues in government but think she might be better off running for something else first - governor, Senator, even Vice President.

I have a preference for successful governors.

(Assuming you mean legislators,) How many of them are Republicans? More than that, how do Southern blacks vote, compared to the 90% 'D' that we see nationally (which includes the South)?

Is she gay? Can anyone say for sure? Just asking.

She's apparently pro-choice. That alone is enough to send me searching for any suitable alternative.

She is up front and center. The only woman that can beat Hitlery should she run.

I am not sure our country is ready for this yet. We haven't yet gotten over the civil rights thing yet.

Just not sure if it will fly.

Maybe, maybe not. I believe Dr. Rice is very qualified for the position of president. I believe that her position of Provost for Sanford university would help make up for the lack of experience in fiscal matters. The only down side I can see to the equation is her lack of an elected office. I believe that she would be able to bring the House and the Senate to heel, post haste. I might even suggest she could even force the male Senators and Representatives to find certain parts of their anatomy they seem to be missing thus far. I have no doubt that Dr. Rice does not suffer fools gladly would let them know what is expected of them and hold them accountable.

Given four years of exposure, Dr. Rice has the opportunity to make herself known to the black base. I don't think Hillary has the appeal to that base her husband had. Given the choice to vote for Dr. Rice or HRC, I think with the exception of the hard core slaves on the entitlement plantation, blacks might give lip service to the Beast, but in the privacy of the both vote for Dr. Rice. She has yet to play her race card yet, which has the potential to be very moving. Remember one of her close childhood friends was a victim of the bombing in Birmingham.

I don't think the women's vote would be quite the lock Hillary thinks. Just from personal experience among friends and acquaintances most find Hillary unpalatable. She is coarse, grasping and not the face that a lot of people would choose to represent us in the world. Dr. Rice's educated, dare I say ladylike persona resonates with many who think that the coarsening of our political culture does not bode well for the Democrats. Most Americans find the trash talk and gutter politics off putting. I think Dr. Rice would pick up far more votes than she would lose because of her race.

Let me respond to you in this way. "Being Black, Democrat and liberal ain't cool and it certainly ain't where its at in today's changing world!" I don't look at Ms. Rice as a Black or a woman. I look at her the same way I look at GW Bush. I voted for Bush two times because I believed, and was proven right, that he has a backbone of steel, just like his Momma Barbara!!! And....I believe that Condi has the same backbone of steel. End of story!!!

Its early and my spelling is lacking. Sorry to offend you.
Don't know how many are republican but I will bet that more of them are black and republican in the south than say in MA., NY, CT, NH and ME!
Has Condi ever said that she is pro-choice or are we just assuming? I have never heard her say one way or the other. My problem with her is that she has never run for office.
If its a choice between ProChoice Condi and ProAbortion Hillary, which way would you vote?

I seem to recall she has at least made such an implication. That's good enough for me. I'm not going to spend any time researching it. I'll leave it to her swooning fanatics to convince me otherwise (as long as she doesn't pull a Steve Forbes).

My problem with her is that she has never run for office.

That's another one of mine, too.

If its a choice between ProChoice Condi and ProAbortion Hillary, which way would you vote?

The two terms you used are synonymous. Sugar coat a turd and it's still a turd.

I would be more easily persuaded than ever before to consider a third party. It would also be their best chance to make a respectable showing.

Win or lose, running Condi is one of the things Republicans can do that will forever change the equation.

We get approximately zero percent of the black and the female vote at present. That can only go up.

We have allowed ourselves to be stereotyped as the party of repression. That is not who we are -- we are the party of opportunity.

Not only that, but Condi would be great.

Yep. I've tried (on FR) to tell people this. They don't always believe me.

People in my hick little Virginia town would swarm to the polls to vote for her.

I learned long ago that the NON-Suthner's view of The South is mainly a concept planted in their minds Hollywood.

The Beverly Hillbillies

Andy Griffith Show

Petticoat Junction

Green Acres

Dukes of Hazzard

Carter Country

In the Heat of the Night (Movie and weekly)

70's Dodge Commercials

My Cousin Vinney

Deliverance

Smokey & the Bandit

Mississippi Burning

The list is endless..........

I couldn't agree more.

I pointed out in another thread once that the staunchly pro choice people who would not vote for Condi because she may be mildly pro choice were going to help hand the presidency to Hillary because of that one signle issue they couldn't get past, ignoring how much good it would do in the long run for our party and our nation to get Condi elected and render today's liberalism an artifact of history.

I made the point of how much luck the strong pro-lifers would likely have with that issue under Hillary, and I was accused of fear mongering. Go figger.
