One day, my cats were hungry and I didn't have anything in the house to feed them except raw bacon. They loved it! I continued to give them raw bacon each day and now it's their favorite food (they won't eat raw sausage, though). In fact, now they don't want anything else. I've tried different foods on them - vienna sausage, potted meat, canned mackerel, etc., but they want their bacon. Someone told me this might not be good for the cats, but they seem healthy. What do you think? I see cats on this sight sometimes when I surf, so maybe you know something here.

After all these years and all these issues, I had no idea you were like that, Laz....just goes to show ya, "you never really know someone."
As far as I know, the only detriment would be that cats need taurine for their eyes and I doubt that bacon would have any.
Probably should check with a vet.
That's strange - I once tried giving my kitten a piece of BBQ pork (Chinese-style; make your own joke here). She wouldn't eat it - licked the sweet sauce off, and then batted it around for ages until my dog ran out of patience and stole it.
OTOH, it wasn't in her bowl, and she won't take treats unless I put them in her food bowl - not from my hand, not from the floor. (She will steal food from my plate if I'm not careful, though.)
Cats are weird.
Thanks for all the great kitty articles this year!
You're very welcome. Thank you for all the bumps!
Welcome aboard!

Your cat probably isn't a cannibal.
I had a cat that loved ham. maybe they like the salt
Merry Christmas! My reply may be late, but you shouldn't feed your cat raw bacon. It is smoked and is loaded with salt, plus the fat content is hard on a cat's gut. Fresh, raw, lean, chicken is the best kind of special treat.
I saw a weird dog today...looked like one of those potbellied pigs... had folds of skin on its knees. same dark color too
My cats will eat bacon cooked or raw...that's if they grabbed it before I got it into the pan. My dachshunds, on the other hand, would probably eat raw bacon, too. They won't eat my homemade good for them dog biscuits unless they contain cooked bacon. That's the secret ingredient, and a little bacon fat. Okay, they're spoiled rotten.
Being a rather conservative, shy, quiet, and unasuming gent, not prone to outbursts myself, may I say ...
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! ... ahem ...
Merry Christmas!
LOL! Great answer. I got here late on this thread, but I was waiting for you to defend yourself!
Your exquisite humor in the earlier post (4) was impeccable, apparently too subtle for stm.
Merry Christmas to all, and .......... it's always good not to jump to conclusions......... :-)
I knew that was coming, and accepted my fate freely. Ah, the sacrifices I make for freepdom.

Why do I get the feeling that when the "Why do you keep banning me"
thread is gone, this will be the new playground? ::^D

BACON !
G'mornin Meek.
Merry Christmas!
My cat loves bacon, one of the few people foods he'll touch. But I'm paranoid, so I cook it first. And I've often wondered why they make bacon flavored treats for dogs, but not cats.
