Is it ok to feed my cats raw bacon?

Posted on 12/24/2004 11:51:13 AM PST by little bus

One day, my cats were hungry and I didn't have anything in the house to feed them except raw bacon. They loved it! I continued to give them raw bacon each day and now it's their favorite food (they won't eat raw sausage, though). In fact, now they don't want anything else. I've tried different foods on them - vienna sausage, potted meat, canned mackerel, etc., but they want their bacon. Someone told me this might not be good for the cats, but they seem healthy. What do you think? I see cats on this sight sometimes when I surf, so maybe you know something here.

have a good way to keep your cat from killing the neighbor's birds?

Keep the vermin locked up indoors. You may argue that roaming is natural for vermin, but I would counter that killing and eating vermin is natural for dogs. Would that satisfy you if you vermin was killed by an unleashed dog?

"I always wanted a scenicruser (like the "official" one in such nice shape posted above) since I was a wee young'in."

The Scenicruiser I posted a picture of is For Sale on ebay now. There have been others sold on there before. You may find what you are looking for listed under RVs or buses. My concerns were, where will I park a 40ft bus? : )

How interesting was it?

It was so interesting, I saw cats eating raw bacon while a bunny with a pancake on its head watched.

walked to our computers in 10 foot drifts in the snow, uphill, both ways

We also had to watch out for Indians and ravenous Wolves, we even had to walk home and back for lunch.

It was good that I had many brothers and sisters who were slower than I was.

Yeah. My great big fluffy red Maine Coon cat, Elliott, gets laughed at all the time. He looks like a tough guy but he's really a big baby. BTW, he doesn't like raw bacon. [ubiquitous smiley]

My beloved cat of many years was killed by what you call dogs, but what I would instead call vermin. thanks for reminding me of this on Christmas eve.

Back in the good old days when we walked to our computers in 10 foot drifts in the snow, uphill, both ways and logged on with our acoustic couplers we had no such thing as HTML tags.

Computer?!? You were lucky to have a COMPUTER! We had to fight through hordes of Mongolians just to get to some battered old abacuses. We'd have to have our arms chopped off in the battle and then we'd push the abacus beads around with our *noses*.

Save the cat food for Grandma and feed your cats bacon. She is going to need it after Bush gets done with her.

Old festering troll ping.

OK, first - a story about a cat who walked across my very first attempt at homemade cheese cake right before it was time to take it into my guests. There were those little feetprints. So I just took a table knife and smoothed it over.

Second, convince your neighbors like we have that the birds need to have a preditor to keep them strong and also, feed the birds yourself so your cat won't have to leave the yard.

A springer spaniel ate my house! No kidding! He was so spoiled I even had a kiddie wading pool full of water on the deck for him to dip into on a hot day, but he still insisted he liked the rungs on my Duncan Phyfe chairs, and even the woodwork, let along the wicker porch furniture. I even tried spraying everything with tabasco sauce, but he even liked that! Then he started in on the siding. I don't have that springer spaniel anymore.
