I agree with you 100%. Many of the people on this board are treating your comments as a joke because we are so used to hearing wild exaggerations about the environment from the Mainstream media. We have also seen the environmental issue become totally politicized as groups like the sierra club have no interest in making progress with republican administrations, especially conservative ones.
However, I do feel that as religious people, we conservatives should be trying to do what we can to improve the earth in any way we can, including environmentally. That doesnt mean that the govt. should force things on the people, but as a religious person, I am proud that I have made the decision to drive a fuel efficient vehicle.
