Bring it on. All the guns, and the knowledge of how to use them, are in the Red States.

Heck, we wouldn't even call it a war. It would be considered "urbun renewal".

Believe me, if there was ever a civil war, the reds would beat the blues, hands down.

Well, at least you did call this thread a vanity. It's a particularly useless vanity since you reference the DUmmies, but if that's your level, so be it.

What, with drugs, AIDS, and abortion, it's only a matter of time before there will be NO blue states. They're wiping themselves out - mass cultural suicide!

As in the past when Ron Silver first realized during the first Clinton inauguration "Hey, those are our planes now," so it dawns on the liberals considering succession - "Ya know, the 2nd Amendment is a mighty fine Amendment."

It is DEFINITELY bubbling to the surface, however all
of the most vocal are also ( most likely ) the 'all talk'
types. Don't get me wrong - there are a tremendous amount
of people who think think that The President is a
"War Criminal," and they Actually DO believe it.

I'd give it 6 months. Let's check in to see HOW MANY
DIMocrats have moved to Canada ... :)

Come on, we're all fascinated with the bizarre world of DU. But, just because someone voted for Kerry doesn't put them in a class with your average DU'er.

Of course, this applies to the "Republic of Texas," but since Texans have big hearts, we will share with the other red states as they will share with us. Screw the blue states.

1. NASA is just south of Houston, Texas and Florida has Cape Canaveral. We will control the space industry.
2. Texas refines over 85% of the gasoline in the United States.
3. Defense Industry--we have over 65% of it. The term "Don't mess with Texas," will take on a whole new meaning.
4. Oil - we can supply all the oil that the Republic of Texas will need for the next 300 years. Blue states? Sorry about that.
5. Natural Gas - again we have all we need and it's too bad about those Blue states. The Blue States will figure out a way to keep themselves warm....
6. Computer Industry - we currently lead the nation in producing computer chips and communications--small places like Texas Instruments, Dell Computer, EDS, Raytheon, National Semiconductor, Motorola, Intel, AMD, Atmel, Applied Materials, Ball Semiconductor, Dallas Semiconductor, Delphi, Nortel, Alcatel, etc, etc. The list goes on and on.
7. Medical Care - We have the largest research centers for cancer research, the best burn centers and the top trauma units in the world, as well as other large health centers. Dallas has some of the best hospitals in the United States.
8. We have enough colleges to keep us going: University of Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Rice, SMU, University of Houston, Baylor, UNT (University of North Texas), Texas Women's University, etc. Ivy grows better in the South
anyway.
9. We have a ready supply of workers. We could just open the border when we need some more.
10. We have essential control of the paper industry, plastics, insurance, etc.
11. In case of a foreign invasion, we have the Texas National Guard and the Texas Air National Guard. We don't have an Army, but since everybody down here has at least six rifles and a pile of ammo, we can raise an Army in 24
hours if we need one. If the situation really gets bad, we can always call the Department of Public Safety and ask them to send over Chuck Norris and a couple of Texas Rangers.
12. We are totally self-sufficient in beef, poultry, hogs, and several types of grain, fruit and vegetables, and let's not forget seafood from the Gulf. Also, everybody down here knows how to cook them so that they
taste good.

No need for war. Peaceful secession will do just fine, provided that the blue states have democratic elections in their red counties to determine whether go red or blue.

Blue states would have virtually no oil and little natural gas since they ban already offshore E&P in California, which would serve the environmentalists just fine. If the red counties joined the red states, they'd have precious little agriculture, though they'd still make some good wine. I suppose they have to drink that to keep from freezing in the dark.

Actually, Bluesistan would probably have such good relations with the Middle East that they would have access to adequate supplies of oil ... but only after the muttawah (Islamic religious police) certified that the population bowed to Mecca five times a day.

Yep, I hear they're stockpiling spitballs.

All seriousness aside, the DU master plan is
to blow up a federal building in a red state,
as a signal for all the fringe wackos to take
up arms in revolt.

Oh, McVeigh tried that, and it didn't work?
Never mind.

We've got the guns and grow all the food and produce most of the fuel. We also have all the patriots that will fight for a cause bigger than themselves. No contest.

The Blue States are full to the brim with pacifists. They will never start a war. They will whine and cry and threaten to live - but they won't even leave, damnit!

If anything it will be the reds that begin a civil war. To answer your question, yes, I believe a time will come when the US will split into 2 nations. How is the problem. The left coast, the lake states and New England are separated from each other by the centre.

Actually there's a very amusing piece from NRO (posted on FR somewhere) by the Dean of the Naval War College on the question.

He points out the Unionists in the Blue States would presumably set up their own government, recognized by Washington, or maybe their own state like West Virginia during the late unpleasantness.

Of course we wouldn't even need to fight them: they can't feed themselves. As the NRO piece points out a figate to blockade each of their ports and its over.

And he does note how much fun reconstruction would be--skip the 'charity to all and malice toward none' and right on to 'radical Reconstruction'!

Well, this is how history is probably going to pan out. During the actual Civil War it took a generation for the hate to start to peter out. New waves of immigrants also came that did not have the baggage of the Civil War and the older Americans with grudges died out. The same will happen here. The leftist baby boomers who tried to break
"Amerika" over its knee in the 60s will die out and new immigrants who could not give a hoot about the Vietnam War (and boy, does the left like to invoke Vietnam) will move in.
