Just heard on O'Reilly that a supporter for an Oscar nomination for Michael Moore's crockumentary is George Lucas. You'd think this guy would know better!

"yer right...nice user name ;)"
I do admire his creation of the SW universe but I definitely disagree with his political views. BTW, Ep. III will make 1/2 billion no matter how vocal he is in expressing them.
" ... but it has as much chance of winning an Oscar as the director of BEDTIME FOR BONZO."
His best chance was ANH and it really shoulda won against Woody Allen's Annie Hall but considering the voting block... you get my point.
No. He's a lib, but moreso, he's just trying to get attention. The new Star Wars is coming out soon and this is part of the opening blitz. They just released the trailer. Next, a few "stolen scenes" will make their way onto the net. He'll be outraged, blah blah blah.
I was talking with a friend today about movie stars. We both (and she's a lib) feel we'd REALLY rather NOT know the politics of any of em. Now it's too late- whenever I see one of these actors in a film- I hear them blasting their views all over the media and lose interest in the movie.
But even I could not have envisioned the horror that awaited me. I swear that move was five hours long, I kept my sanity by silently composing a critical review.
Between that and Titanic I nearly swore off movies for life.
Oh, dang, too much. That's so funny it's sad.
Hey you want to know what's really sad, go check out the Star Wars III trailers released a few days ago. When some brave LucasArts employee mustered the courage to tell Georgie the characters in the prequels are as 3 dimensional as a CGI model on a computer monitor, Georgie there didn't take the news in the intended manner. Instead of overwrought dialogue too painful for most modestly intelligent 10 year olds to stand, he gave Chewbacca and wookies the most dialogue in the new movie.
Arghhhnn.
"he gave Chewbacca and wookies the most dialogue in the new movie."
What is your source?
Michael Moore...The FARCE is with you!
I clapped and cheered and I was lucky I wasn't torn to bits by a hoard of enraged teenyboppers. Fortunately for me they were bawling like they had been teargassed and I was able to slide quietly down in my seat until the horror passed.
Maybe GL is looking to cast Moore as Jabba the Hut.
Just one more movie my kids won't want to see after I tell them that Lucas is a pinko. After laughing my soda out my nose during the "love scenes" of Episode 2, I wasn't looking forward to the surprises awaiting me in E3...
Why he would even bother with this is systematic of the disease that has infested the Hollywood Left.
George Lucas was on thin ice after Jedi.
Then he turned The Force® away from something spiritual and created "midiclorians". Now, at best, The Force is just a way of keeping score (What's your midiclorian count?) on the very liberal ideal that "some people are just better than others" (The Force is strong with this one - the others must be republican voting rednecks). At worse, The Force seems now to be more like a venereal disease than a power of spirit.
The immaculate conception of Darth Vader was just plain offensive to both faith and plot credibility. Jar Jar Binks merely added insult to injury.
I may rent Revenge of the Sith on Dollar Tuesday, but I'm not going to be fooled into dropping $8 to see it in the theatre. I don't care how cool the trailer looks.
Folks
There has to be SOME WAY we can stop this...I mean by a boycott or a writing campaign of some sort...
Come on, we crashed the Whoopie slim fast deal didn't we?? This should be small potatoes...shouldn't it?
Maybe feeling that he was robbed?
GL might feel like he deserved an Oscar, but ANH wasn't an Oscar-type film and, to be honest, Lucas isn't a good dialogue writer or director of dialogue. His visions are too big and so is his ego.
He only directed 5 major films: 4 SW films and American Graffiti. All of "his" films were as producer or executive producer.
Maybe he appreciates that MM went out and made it and honors that?
