OK - I geeded the ponies... When ecurbh gets up and I've had more coffee we'll clean the hawds.
Good morning. At least this week I can get to church. I'm doing a test-drive of my Christmas dress, so I am severely overdressed, but the good news is, it fits, and will fit whether I gain or lose five pounds between now and then.
Morning Hair - Sounds like a fun experience, plans for a stable? Hobby stable or business stable? Pretty cool idea. Good luck with it. OB
Dang, that is a bummer, tylenol and a stocking hat will help. Kitty litter does it every time. OB
Glad to hear the play is going well and JR is okay. sandles are a good thing. re Nana as LSA said "motion is lotion".
Morning OT, the rain has spoiled the leaf raking plans at the present but all is not lost, decorating to do. I won a door prize last night at the company Xmas Party. Two $25 gift certificates to local resturaunts. The Martin City place is on the list of participants. Whoohoo.
Wondering if Osagebowman is around today?
Hi! Happy Sunday to all.
Soon, hopefully, we will be at the parade watching elf-boy on the karate float.
(provided it doesn't start raining again)
Good Afternoon Sam - Yup, I'm here just signed in on LSA today and havent got around to changing it. OB
Here's hoping the rain holds off for your parade. Take Pics. :-) OB & LSA
Hi, Osage.
Starting the tillering on the first bow, made a tree and all, wondering what to use as a string for the process.
I've been reading about your garage door spring woes. Here's some free advice for me, because it happened to me last winter.
If those springs are the kind wind around the axle that the door rides on, DON'T mess with them yourself. Those things pack as much energy as a grenade, and can kill you just as dead, if you don't know what you're doing. Pay for a "professional" to take the risks. They have some tricks, and usually know what they're doing.
First, the remaining good spring has to be detensioned (disarmed). Then the broken spring has to be taken off, and a new one put on. Then both of them have to be properly tensioned. The springs have the least tension when the door is open, and the most when it is closed. That's what lets a little 1HP opener, or little person, open or close those heavy doors.
The one thing you CAN do with new springs (plan on replacing both), is to keep them lubricated, to prevent rust. I didn't, with the first springs, and rust is what usually causes a spring like that to snap. The coils rub against themselves as they are tensioned, and rust increases the abrasiveness, as well as weakening the steel. Eventually, the weakest part of the coil snaps, releasing all that energy. It sounded like a shotgun going off inside the garage.
The most important thing you can do for the new springs is spray them with WD40 or some light penetrating oil every few months. The springs should be black and shiny. The oil dissolves the rust, and provides some lubrication for the coils pressing against each other.
There are lots of things I'll do around the house myself, but messing with garage door springs is not one of them. Just remember to take good care of the new springs, and they'll take good care of you.
Sam, I'll give you a call. OB
WooHoo! I got an Applebee's $25 gift certificate two years ago that I haven't used yet.
Good afternoon...
Today will be spent coding (or rather, commenting my code. That takes longer) and working on a batch of Christmas cookies. See, I plan to hand out little tokens of appreciation to my friends, coworkers, and professors (ok, those ones are bribes) but I'm not sure I'll have time to cook until too late... so I have to start now...
It's a cold, rainy day here. I'm hanging out with the cat and watching a chick flick.
ROTFL! That's leverage for a couple of weeks of 'best behavior!
So glad to hear Nana is doing well. As long as SHE believes she can get better, she will!
Sunny here, and sort of warm. Quiet. Too quiet. If I got any channel other than Fox, I'd have it on... maybe tonight. I think dem Stillers are the night game...
Last night, about midnight, I reminded the kids that they had to wrap the gifts for the 'Giving Tree' so we could bring them in this morning. Thus began the great 'Giving Tree tag hunt'. Joseph had lost the tag that said who was supposed to get the gift, and we were searching for that thing for over an hour. I finally got to bed at 2am, and set the alarm (I thought) for 7:10. I awoke with SSQ bringing me coffee at 9:22!! I sprang out of bed and hopped in the shower and was at the church by 9:45; quickest I've ever moved in my life! Thankfully, no one had come down after 7:30 Mass to get pictures taken. I felt bad enough for being so late, and would have felt worse if we'd messed up someone's Christmas picture plans. At least we were all set up for the crowd at the 9am Mass. We took about 18 pictures after that Mass and another 12 or so after the 11am Mass. I haven't figured up the costs involved, but I think the girls made some decent money!
Finished lunch not too long ago....now it's time to start supper. :)
I need to get the pizza dough started for tonight. Let's see how this oven does pizza crust.
