The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

They're stooopid. That's all.

Gah, I'd better get moving if I'm gonna get anything done today. See you later...

I was out Christmas shopping. Now I am doing series homework. I cannot be blamed.

However, my Ninja Stealth Shopping Skillz have allowed me to acquire gifts for all the immediate family without too much havoc.

Well, I'm going to a Wal-Mart.

I'll probably buy nothing more than what I seek...a rug for my bedroom whose only purpose will be to cover the TV and internet cables.

Wouldn't even worry about that, except they remind me of Howard Dean's campaign manager.

I'll let you mull that one over while I'm out...

Happy homework!

A while back 'we' posted a thread on FR detailing the troop support projects. Does ya have a link or a title?

(I'm trying to recruit some donors...)

Have a great time, are you planning on showing Cyn?

Naw.... We just went to look... ecurbh'd never been to a horse show before, and I think it was good for him to see all the different styles of horses and also to walk through a big barn like that and get ideas about designing a big barn for our stable. :~D

I finished chores too late for the Army/ Navy game but I've got the UT/ Auburn game on.

Looks like it might be a long evening for UT.

After several hours of programming, my part works perfectly. Unfortunately, their part doesn't. And without their part, my part is singularly unimpressive. Grr.

A bit like singing Alto, perhaps?

Yeah, so at least I'm used to it.

However occasionally the alto line is prettier. Like in "Joy to the World".

Now I have to think about that---and dig thru my records and CDs for good versions of it---and try to pick it out. I'm not really good at that unless it's a quartet.

By the way the shopping trip was successful re the rug. I also found a red t-shirt with the Santa-suit belt printed on it, with the legend "Does suit make me look fat?"

Then I stopped off at the World Market and picked out tiny stockings and tiny stocking stuffers for all who I expect to be in the house Christmas morning.

Rather more shopping than I expected to do...

...but the cables are less Trippi...

Amazon has RotkEE for $23.99!

So what's up with The Princess Bride all of a sudden? A&E was playing it almost non-stop for the pst 24 hours, and now VH1 is going to show it.

As for me, I'm watching The Lion in Winter on TMC. It's followed by Lawrence of Arabia, but I don't know if I'm up for that...

You kilt it...

I have found the perfect strategy for getting things done at programming sessions: make it know that I have brought anime. Heh... we got two episodes in before calling it quits. I've accidentally gotten our fourth wheel, the Mongolian programmer guy, hooked. I was only trying to get my galpals into it...

But that's ok! Mr. Genghis Khan came through with a solution for the nasty Prolog problem in our other class, so we owe him a drink. Or three.

Oh, yay, I'm not alone. Only I am alone. So, so alone. With only my cd player and my computer for company. And my plant. But that's going to die when I go home from Christmas anyway so I feel really guilty. Great.

Sniff, that might help.

Actually I'm coming near to a nervous breakdown. Only two weeks of school left, a trillion things to do, grades to worry about... I'm just anxious...
