Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A new road or a secret gate...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Evening EGE - We appreciate your efforts to keep the economy on an upward path.
Tell your roommate to take two aspirins and keep the door closed.

Our excuse is we have shared cable internet and one cable modem...the modem's in my room, with the router, and I'm hardwired into it. When the c/r is in his room he sometimes gets connectivity issues with his wireless laptop, and ends up 'putin in the living room just outside my door.
Solution: make my big desktop wireless and move the modem'n'router to a more central location.

Yeah, that's a good excuse. My family has a wireless network. But since I only have one computer, and rarely sit anywhere but at my desk, I can't justify getting a router.

Every year we go looking for the most... um... well, "tacky" is the way we put it, Christmas house display. Heh...in Richmond the "Tacky House Light Tour" is a business. You can rent a limo. The newspapers and TV stations publish the "best" houses. It gets to be a contest.
I'll likely never get there since it would involve lights on the roof.
It started because "old" Richmond has the tradition of only the white lights in the windows of the colonial homes. Granted, that's nice. But folks got bored with that.

You know I'm tempted. Even the "buy it now" price is the best I've seen for those.

You know... you could tell Jr. to get his butt up there and start stringing lights...
Limo tours? Good grief...

Actually, the larger problem (okay there are two).
1) I don't own a stepladder (borrowing from a neighbor is an option).
2) We live in a traditional colonial, so we don't have guttering. It's on the list to add, hopefully when we replace the windows.

I see. Well, you're the home decorating expert... I suppose you could staple it to the roof but then it would be hard to take down. Duct tape?
Gee, I hope my neighbors hate my loud wailing of Christmas carols. They've annoyed me often enough, and I just can't help singing.

Sing away.
Wouldn't be prudent to staple into the vinyl siding. Or the wood frame.

Ah, true.
Now on a chorus of "Sleigh Bells", accompanied by Amy Grant (or the other way around). Have already listened to a half-dozen different Christmas cds. Ah, the wonder of cd burners... my little sister copied our collection and mailed 'em out to me.

Get this...
Steve changed a fuse in my car and filled up my power steering fluid (which was absolutely empty)...
My car is running like brand new.
I stood in the driveway and between smooching on Steve, praised God loudly.

But would it really work with a Creche? The ox, the donkey, the flamingo? It would give a certain Island flare to it. They cattle and mules, might just work.
We got a Christmas ornament with an Island Santa. Sandles, shorts, couple of pelicans standing by him.
To: 2Jedismom
Oh, that's wonderful! I was hoping it was something minor!

Orange, huh? That'll stand out, unless all your neighbors do the same. We'll need pictures, of course.
