Hey everyone. Just got back from the Turkeyday action with friends in Chicago. I hope everyone else had as enjoyable a time as I did. The only drawback is I don't have any leftover pie for breakfast... Oh well not like I should eat more anyway.
No breakfast pie?!
Mr. Darcy hasn't had any turkey but Miss Emily had a sampling of turkey soup this evening.
Get thyself to a craft store and get some suction cups that have little hooks attached. These work spiffily on glass doors! You could get several small ones to hang the lights, and a HUGH one to hang a wreath! Just make sure it's a silk one (which can also be purchased at said craft store) otherwise it may be too heavy for the suction cup holder.
I knew there'd be no pie left when I went out to the house today, so I snitched some to have for breakfast this morning.
No...I didn't need it. But it was tasty...
I'm giving myself until Monday before I go back to the strict diet.
Glad to hear you made it back safely! Sounded like Chicago was getting some pretty nasty weather.
Good evening!
We just finished watching "Blues Brothers", which none of us had ever seen. Um...strange. Very strange.
And in about ten minutes I'm heading out to the bluegrass jam. Hope it's warm there! It has been WINDY today - not exactly cold temperature wise, but NOT a day to be outside.
Went to a movie and felt sorry for myself for about two minutes. Not being home is starting to get to me. I got a package of Christmas cds and some placemats today, and they said they're not putting up the tree until the wayward daughters (me and eldest younger sister) are home, which is sweet.
So this is my decoration! Also a bow on the door, placemats on the table, two candles, and the music. Not to rival Corin's, but it's my first year doing this on my own, you know! It looks really really cool from outside and nobody else in the complex has got lights yet.
In other news, I have just finished the first experimental (heh heh heh) batch of fudge... cooked in a big cast iron skillet just like Dad did. We will test it (heh heh heh) in about an hour when it cools. I'm going to need lots of practice (heh heh heh) to be as good at it as he was.
I thought about a mini tree but decided it would just be kind of sad. I'll have a tree in three weeks when I go home.
It was getting some bad stuff on the way in but the battlecruiser laughs at lousy weather.
Hullo Talon! Welcome back!
Sigh... I've had too much goofing off this week and now I have to get down to the business of making up research paper prose. Bleah.
Not quite yet. But I'm thinkin' about getting lit.
Just finished dinner. I think, other than a quick trip to Lowes, this was the first time I've sat down since about 9 this morning.
Lil' - the outdoor decorations are up. Well, except for the candles in the windows.
But, that involved three hours of yard work getting up the leaves. Had to get them out of the azaleas so I could put in lights. Then it took Jr. and me about an hour to bring everything down from the attic. I worked on the outside lights from about 1:00 p.m. until just about an hour ago.
Woulda been done sooner if I didn't have to be so dang precise about these lights. For the windows and the nativity I replace the bulbs at the beginning of the season, otherwise, I end up changing about one a day for the whole season. It's easier and cheaper just to start fresh.
But, I was getting tired this afternoon and said, "what the heck, I'll just these up and replace the bulbs next week." Unfortunately, I'd already discarded the bulbs last year.
We were gonna do the tree tonight, but I'm beat. Plus Luke wants to help and it's close to his bedtime. Will put it up tomorrow a.m. and finish ornamenting it tomorrow night after rehearsal.
Jen, I like the lights around the door.
Remember, we want pics when you're done!
I really like my lights. Of course I cannot open my door from now til I take 'em down, but that's ok, I don't go out on my balcony that often anyway.
We did a really hard job out in the barn today, rearranging the heavy rubber mats on the floor so they lay flat in the pony's stall... they'd been messed up and never put in right since the new stall arrangement.
They weigh about a hundred pounds and they're kinda like trying to move a body.... that's laying in pee.
Oh and here's our tree. I need to level it tomorrow.
Evening OT - Miss Emily has good taste. Turkey soup is wonderful. So is Punkin Pie for Breakfast. Hmmmm.
Had to make a run to PetCo catz and doggie needed foooood. Quite an interesting experience. After LSA tried signing the electonic credit card doohickie twice before the clerk said "Best sign the paper copy-the electronic thingy hasn't been working all morning." sigh
Sigh... I was kind of looking forward to not decorating a tree this year. I usually end up with an arm rash. But how should I say, "Thanks for saying you'll wait for us to put up the tree, but go ahead and do it"? I'd sound ungrateful.
Fudge... mmm...
Tell them to suprise you, but leave an ornament or two for you to place.
FWIW, I'd help yuh move a body. But yer on yer own with the mats...
