Our excuse is we have shared cable internet and one cable modem...the modem's in my room, with the router, and I'm hardwired into it. When the c/r is in his room he sometimes gets connectivity issues with his wireless laptop, and ends up 'putin in the living room just outside my door.

Solution: make my big desktop wireless and move the modem'n'router to a more central location.

Yeah, that's a good excuse. My family has a wireless network. But since I only have one computer, and rarely sit anywhere but at my desk, I can't justify getting a router.
