The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Clare and I are fixing to go downtown for a Veteran's Day ceremony. After that, the Girl Scouts are doing a Flag Retirement Ceremony at the home of one of the Girl Scout leaders.

We are proud to honor such men as yourself.

BTW, I just got it yesterday, so I haven't watched it. But I got the "Office Space" DVD.

Cool! Should we chat view it?

Just thirding the resentment about chain email from friends.

Ugh. Tiffney has discovered my email. I now get chain-prayers. I absolutely resent chain letters, especially chain hugs full of puppies and teddy bears, even prayers - I won't read them.... even when failing to send it on to ten friends will cause the death of puppies, I hate them.

just a rant I have.

Heh...just one more benefit to working in an office with lots of guys...

I hate those, too! Or the "If you're a true friend, send this to ten people and the person who sent it to you". Um...if I'm really they're friend, they won't worry if I don't send it back. As a matter of fact, if they're a real friend, they'll stop bugging me if I ask. I like personal e-mails, but I don't like meaningless forwarded garbage!

Morning Hair - I'll join in that rant, we've got a dear friend that considers forwarding emails, just as you have described, as 'writing us an email'. They can sure fill up a mailbox.

Hmmmm...maybe tomorrow night? I'll have to see if I have rehearsal.

I just got back from Lowes. Guys, I know I whine a lot. And I really don't make this crap up. But we are at a pivotal point with Nana. It is time for her to $#!T or get off the pot...which would be the portable one that the therapist suggested that we put in the flippin' living room...we stopped that.

The brace on her leg came loose. We've lost one of the screws and can't get it back together. We have calls in all over town to find what we need. If we don't have it by the end of the day, I'll go back to Lowes and we'll improvise. But without it she is completely immobile.

Even as we speak she's telling the health aide that the therapist doesn't even want her putting her foot down. It's been two-and-a-half months since the d@mn thing slipped out of the joint. I'm no doctor, nor do I play one in the Christmas production...but fercryinoutloud, somethin' ain't right. She's supposed to get the thing off in two weeks. If she's no further along than that, I don't see how it can be healing.

Enough whining, but please keep this whole situation in your prayers. Wife is at her limits.

I ain't too far from mine.

For now, I'm gonna take my dust mask and get out in the yard...

My computer lives!

So last night I discovered the reason why it wouldn't connect to the internet was the network adapter driver was missing. So... how to get that? Well, you download it. Only I couldn't for obvious reasons...

So I brought my computer to work. Downloaded the driver from my work computer to my usb drive, plugged it into my laptop, ran the drivers. It worked! Yay!

Now all I need is some decent word processing software so I can see how much I wrote last night and we're golden.

Oh, yeah, "The Incredibles" was great! You'll love it, I'm going to email Mom and tell her to be sure the bothers get to go. Amazing CGI stuff, and funny, and so many visual references to other superhero movies.

Glad you got everything working! These USB drives are wonderful, aren't they?

I still want a PDA keyboard, though...heh...wish I had a rich relative I could bug for a Christmas present! ;-)

Hopefully I get to see The Incredibles this weekend, as I said. I really wanna! Maybe I'll go to the matinee and then come home and cook the turkey breast for a late-ish dinner...keep my little sister with me and we'll make a night of it. She'd like that.
