Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A new road or a secret gate...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

She said "Yes... Geragos has been retained by Suha, and is going to Switzerland for the weekend".
Just kidding. :-)

Hmm... interesting choice. One of the very few truly silence-able cartridges. The "king" is .45ACP. Barely subsonic, as designed. Good power, but tends to make a loud SPLAT when it hits. H&K makes a nice .45 with suppressor for our Special Ops people.

Hey mister mag... yahsure... I'm a big fan of .45
I'm sitting here watching "Enemy at the Gates" on da hotel teevee... love this story. Vasily Zaitsev. Truly an amazing story. He was the Russian version of Carlos Hathcock, at least.
I read somewhere that the legend around Zaitsev was that in the battle for Stalingrad he made 242 kills while only ever consuming a total of only 243 rounds of ammunition.
White Feather, indeed. :-)

Good morning!
Do we get to really believe Arafat is honestly and truly dead this time? Or is he going to go take a walk later? Or is he just pining for the fjords?
I need caffeine.
We apparently had a brownout here last night (again), and (again) several systems now won't turn on. If we could get people to at least use power strips...*sigh* But we have no power to enforce anything.

Mornin'
I'm getting ready to head out to Lowes. Got the day off for Veteran's Day. I didn't do anything to deserve that, but I'll put it to good use.
Put out Papa's flag this morning to replace our regular one. His was one we had flown over the Capitol on his birthday several years ago. We fly in on special days.
Monday he will have been gone 2 years. Seems like Nana has been with us for 20. She's not doing well. Wife was at her limit last night and said for the first time "We can't have an invalid in this house, she'll have to go to a nursing home." It may not get to that, but wife is talking with the doctor about getting Nana emotionally ready to get out of the brace. She's out of it right now and in her chair where she'll stay until the therapist gets here. The brace came apart and we can't find the screws. Doctor is trying to track down the manufacturer. sigh...
I'm finishing up some coffee and gonna work outside mostly today.

- Need a quart of paint so I can finish the front storm winders.
- May get some lime for the yard.
- And it's quite possible another one of them spiral rope Christmas trees might make it into thuh cart...
