I've been gone since early this AM setting up our fellowship hall for the 'after funeral luncheon'....
...The viewing was at 9AM and the funeral at 10AM....
..and the funeral home was one in south Palm Bay--(which suffered severe damage from Frances & Jeanne)
The grieving family go to our church 25, 30 miles from Palm Bay, but the other relatives live there.....
...I hadn't been to Palm Bay since the storm, and house after house after house had roof damage, or complete roof's off....and damage to companies, businesses, schools, etc.
It looked like a war zone...
..and the funeral home was without power!!!!
Oh my, no air conditioning in close to 100 degree heat!
They decided to have the complete service outside......but little relief that was.
Some sat under the canopy, but most of us stood for 1-1/2 hours, baking in the sun and heat.
It was miserable.
After the funeral, the family was invited up the highway for 30 miles for the luncheon...(I know, I know.....this was poor planning but last minute, plus the hurricane has messed up everyone)
..I am so tired....
...hubby just went to a Christian concert without me .......the spirit is welling, but my body is fatiqued :(
Last night's debate!...I t hought Bush was fabulous!!!
I thought his point of 'how can Kerry expect help from allies if he denigrates the war effort....and also insults Allawi!!!'......
..President Bush made excellent points...
..and I don't appreciate Fox News spinning a Kerry win....piffle on them!
Well, I'm off to rest and watch some Jane Austin.
I think it's called chipping in. Everyone benefits from it.
Get the well deserved rest, Guennie.
absolutely.
I see we're back to 100 posts per page now. Does that mean that traffic is lighter now?
I've just finished a week of 10-11 hour days, including a lot of lifting and loading. Ugh! Oh wait, I'm not finished. Tomorrow is another full day.
My reaction to the debates is that Kerry probably shored up his base which he needed to do, but I'm not too worried as I think President Bush wouldn't have lost much if anything. I think he'll do better in the next debate.
So,,, you got some bad news regarding the car?
So Sorry.
DISCUSSION
...LISA BECOMES EIGHTH HURRICANE OF 2004 SEASON...
LISA continued to strengthen during the day, despite moving over some colder water, and has reached minimal hurricane status. Convection has wrapped center, and analysis from the NHC shows the cyclone has the required winds.
LISA will not likely to retain this status, and will likely only be a hurricane for this forecast package.
LISA will start becoming extratropical tomorrow night, and on Sunday will merge with the remnants of JEANNE.

INTEREST WATCH AREA
LISA is a threat only to shipping.
57 degrees. It's raining & the wind is blowing. It sounds like it's -30 out there.
Accordingly, I have dug out the long sleeved sweatshirt, flannel pants and HUNTING SOCKS. I got chilled this afternoon in the rain.
I am listening to O'Reilly's take on the debate.
Eh yup.....thanks toots.
Molly have you ever seen the trans siberian orchestra? They seem to be in Akron alot.
I've come to the conclusion that I don't give a rip what O'Really thinks. He's on in the background, but only because I'm afraid I'll forget H&C. If they're flat tonite, it's HGTV for me.
WELL!!!! I found out why Mt St Helen's blew today - apparently, hot air, and poisonous gases attract each other...Alan Colmes is in town.
Did it erupt? I've been watching off-and-on, and it looks the same to me. Did I miss it?
Yes, at 12:03 Pacific time, there was a gas and steam release and a tiny amount of ash. Activity still going on and the scientists aren't sure if there will be another erruption. The dome had a bulge before the mini erruption today, but the heat sensors didn't pick up magma. At this point, they are just studying and guessing.
IT DID ERUPT!!! IT DID! AND I MISSED IT. RATSO.
There were a few times this afternoon that I couldn't access it and it wouldn't refresh. The picture now looks very much the same as before. So, I scrolled down and OUILA! the times I couldn't get a pic was during the eruption.
Why do they think I was watching? A mountain gets boring after three hours, ya' know. I wanted to see it do something. AND I MISSED IT.
Maybe we can have a small earthquake, just for me.
I was upset about the "debate" last night, however, there may be some hope. Kerry's really ridiculous and frightening pronouncements are coming back to bite him... just imagine an American President who would insist on a "Global Test" before making a pre-emptive strike to protect the citizens of the US? Calling France, Germany, China, etc and saying...."Well, we are about to be attacked, but I won't send the missiles to protect LA and New York until you guys give me the OK". And, that was only one of his outrageous utterings. Reading through the transcripts, there are at least 17 lies and those are also being brought to light. I believe one of the reasons George Bush performed poorly is because he couldn't believe what he was hearing and was unable to go back on the offensive - he let Kerry put him on the defensive, but only for a short time, however, that is the time period most people are remembering.
It is a perfect Fall afternoon here on the north Oregon coast - just 62 degrees, clear skies, cobwebs floating through the air, the geese have flown in, landed in the quiet part of the river and are honking back and forth. It smells good in the house, I am roasting a chicken thigh and leg for my dinner, and in a little while, I will add the Marsala to give it some additional flavor.
Let's all keep the prayers going for our President.
Watch Fox - they are showing the erruption on the hour and on the 1/2 hour. It is nothing like what we had in 1980, but it is still pretty spectacular. (I don't like earthquakes!!! shudder)
I just checked through the thread. Post #86, I asked if anyone was watching MT. Saint HElens. The reason I asked was I couldn't tell if what I was seeing could be the beginning of the eruption or something else. I am now convinced that what I saw was a preliminary venting before the eruption. I think what I saw was about 2 hours before the full eruption.
I'm heading off now to try to catch a picture of it. Thanks for the info.
