Does CortiSlim work?
Vanity | 7/18/2004 | Me

Does anybody know if CortiSlim works?

I have been on a regular excercise regime for about 3 months. I do 1/2 hour of semi-intense treadmill 4 or 5 mornings a week. I am averaging 1200 calories a day, all in proportion to the USRDA (as a measure -- I know some people disagree with the USRDA but my point is low on carbs and generally not strange in any direction).

But I have not lost any appreciable weight. If I look at the high/low chart the trend puts me down about maybe 2 pounds.

I keep seeing and hearing the Cortaslim commercials and I was thinking they miht work coupled with my regime -- at least to break the logjam.

Anyone have any info? Or ideas? I am pretty much at the max I can do for exercise, given the time constraints from my job.

start lifting weights the more muscle you have the more fat you burn . I lost about 40lbs . Good luck!

I tried CortiSlim, but it didn't work for me. Try adding the weightlifting like shicky in #21 suggested. Cardio alone won't do it. Try your cardio outside (I never got much out of treadmill work, but once I went outside--WOW!) and cut out all refined sugar. Good luck! It's very hard to be disciplined and wait for results, because we all want to reach our goal quickly. True fat loss takes time; don't give up because it will happen!

Also, 1/2 hour is maybe too little cardio. Bump it up to 50 minutes, if you can. Hugs!

Do get a thyroid test. I've been on thyroid medication for many years and the disease can do some odd things to you as far weight goes.

You might want to use the treadmill for 1/2 hour in both the morning and evening. I prefer a mini-tramp but I think they say now that 1 hour a day is the minimum.

Important point: Are you seeing any reduction in your size? Often you will be exchanging fat for muscle.

Since muscle is mored dense, you may not notice a change in weight for awhile, even tho you are getting less fat.

I've been using CortiSlim for 3 weeks and have noticed zero difference that cannot be explained by excercise and eating less.
I don't feel better and I haven't lost the "inches". Admittedly, its only been 3 weeks but thats pretty close to the "30 day" trial period...unless the lbs are going to slough off into a pile around my feet.
I had better success with Atkins, the 1st time I tried it....pretty near zero the second time I tried it. Seems like your body remembers these things.

I don't trust the claims Atkins makes about how eating fat is just hunky dorrie. It simply cannot be true except that fat is filling so maybe you eat less overall.

The South Beach diet makes more sense to me. No carbs and no fat. Tough for the first 2 weeks but then you bring back in "healthy" carbs like fresh fruits and eventually whole grains.

But you really have to be a label reader. Not just for the South Beach, but for all of them. Have you seen how many products use HFCS[high fructose corn syrup]. That may be the culprit behind eating less and not losing weight.

Atkins is based on thirty years of REAL research and scientific experimentation. Get the book, read it all the way through.

Don't listen to naysayers who haven't done the research.

What you eat is way more important than the quantity.

Also, Cardio workouts only cause "weightloss" (fatburning) while you do it. As soon as you stop, that's it for the fat burning.

Powerlifting, on the other hand, will keep you burning fat for a day or two, or more afterwards.

One more thing, if you start a quality exercise program and you were a couch potato before, you may gain weight, since muscle weighs much more than fat. Weight is not the issue, it's fat. Measure your waist, around the navel every day.

If you are burning fat, it will show as decreasing girth.

Don't be discouraged. It probably took a long time to get to the point where you decided you were fat:) It will and should take a while to get in great shape again.

Sudden weight loss never stays. It's the long gradual change in your lifestyle that is important to keeping your shape once you get it where you want it.

Best of luck and don't give up.

There's a good website called

http://fitday.com

that you can simply list your foods and it will translate them into fat, protein, calories and whatever an they have calories burned through exercises, etc.

Might help.

I don't know how to setup a list that individually addresses all of you, bur from the bottom of my heart, thank you all! FReepers are the best. To sum it up for you all and the curious onlookers:

1. CortiSlim doesn't seem to work
2. Exercise more
3. Lower carbs seems to work well, despite media hype
4. Exercise more
5. Lower calories also helps
6. Exercise more
7. The thyroid thing is worth checking into
8. Exercise more and a little better

Thanks again folks. I'll keep you all posted! (*goes back to his small lunch salad which is what he has had for lunch every day for the last 4 weeks()

"Cardio alone won't do it."

Sure it will... I've lost 90 lbs in this last year just cutting out regular soda, three regular meals (including carbs) a day, and 30-45 mins 5 times a week on a treadmill.

Read the Atkins book.

Also read The Zone by Dr. Barry Sears.

Atkins has a good section on diabetes.

I would doubt it, since their commercials stop just short of outright fraud. In the local market here, they run a lot of ads, during the Limbaugh program, that imply Rush Limbaugh endorses their product.

I think it's a rule of thumb that any product that uses airwave satuation combined with innuendo of falsehoods is by that very fact not going to work.

I've been taking it for 4 weeks. Lost 10 pounds. I am calmer than usual. Able to focus stay longer on projects. I have also cut down on my caffeine. Which could be part of that. too. Still trying. Got 50 lbs more to lose.

I was being bombarded by their commercials as well (TV, Radio, Internet), and wondered if it worked as much as they hyped it. I finally broke down and purchased it, (FYI you can get it cheaper then the Cortislim Web site… I got mine at Doctor's Trust: Cortislim for a good price.) I’ve been on it for a couple of months now & it seems to be working… maybe not as much as the commercials say it should, but I have lost a couple of pounds. Don’t know if this will help you. I figure you have to give it a try as each person will probably react differently.

I read the Atkins book and followed it like it was my bible. And I have to say that I did lose weight. I also am now facing losing my kidneys. I have never had problems with my kidneys before, nor has anyone in my family. According to my doctors and the American Kidney Fund, I am not alone. High protein diets cause the kidneys to work harder to eliminate all of that protein but also to eliminate nitrogen. Unfortunately, most people who have this happen have no family history and no way out until it is too late. By the time those urine tests strips tell you that something is off, it is too late, the damage is already done.
I am not saying that everyone who goes on a high protein diet is going to go through what myself and many others are going through. I just want people to know that Atkins isn't a miracle diet.
PS My cholesterol went through the roof while I was on it and it was always very low before it. Fat=Fat

You're the first 'real' person I've ever chatted with that had kidney problems from Adkins. Are you absolutely sure it was Adkins or did you have other health problems?

BTW, welcome to FR. This was a good first post since it gave us important information about you.

1200 calories a day is the absolute minimum anyone should be consuming in a single day. How tall are you?

I am using Cortislim with a low carb diet and have lost 20 pounds. I do not exercise as much as I should and have a high stress position. It is my understanding that stress releases cortisol which complicates weight loss. I tried it when I heard Phil Henry (a dem who is disgusted with his party :) pitching it.

Does it work? I have no clinical evidence, but I am continuing with it. I do not think it has hindered my weight loss efforts.

About the low carb diets. Read everything you can on it. Three years ago I was very anti low carb diet, stating Carbs are the bodies preferred source of energy. There are many out there who are uninformed of how the low carb diet works. I sum the basic premise up as NO REFINED SUGERS OR CARBS. Please not the word refined. The first two weeks of the Atkins you are suppose to eat 2 to 3 cups of leafy vegetables, which is more then most eat. Here is the Atkins link:

http://atkins.com/index.html

You can find just about everything you need to know on the site. Good luck with your weight loss.

Don't know about this stuff, but I heard on KXL Friday that they're going after the male enhancement goodies, now - like Enzyte, a big as advertizer as Corti-Slim with a lot more humor.

Said it consists of sixteen different herbs, minerals, and "ground up animal testicles".

Just what every guy needs!
