Absolutely desparte for something "orginal" to talk about, Laura Ingraham has just said that because John McCain did not attack the Kerry/Edwards ticket on the Today show this morning, "You can kiss this election good bye." Is there anything sadder than a radio personality that uses demagogic buzz language to try and get the phones to ring? There are 120 days or so until election day, but Luara Einstein Ingraham "knows" Kerry has won because of something that didn't happen three months before it even takes place! This woman is a genius!
I guess it's a matter of different strokes for different folks since many here are complimenting her.
That's my take it on too. Quite frankly, the President hasn't made the case for his re-election. If he fails to make it, the other side wins by default. Laura is frustrated by what happening with the Bush campaign. They don't seem to be doing what the base is expecting. And if they don't, indeed they can kiss the election good-bye in November.
yes, she is friends with McAuliffe. I find her to be a whining name dropper. But on this issue, she has a point.
Must have been some show cause Laura just said she was on GGRETA'S show with Susan Estrich......
Laura rocks, and I'm sure she can spell too.
SNOW: Well, youre absolutely right though, its going to be fun to see. Now John Kerry, is it true that John Kerry asked you to be his vice president?
McCAIN: Uh, no. No, it was never offered.
SNOW: It was never offered. So, it may have been discussed elliptically, but never flat out request.
McCAIN: Never was an offer, no.
If you can't hear the trees fall in the forest.... failing to tackle the Democrats aggressively and playing nice is tantamount to validating their case against the President and creating the impression the President isn't interested in remaining on the job. I knew the election was over in 92' when Bush Senior kept looking at his watch during one of the debates with Clinton.
But the simple truth is that the Bush Administration has so far not chosen to make a forceful case for its own accomplishments through any channel other than the ones that reach their already committed base voters. This is probably a Karl Rove strategy to wait until after the Republican Convention to run the "real" ads, but there is always the possibility that Bush is just tired of being President (the way his father seemed to be) and doesn't want to win if it means having to say something strident in his own defense. The problem for Bush in that event will be maintaining his legacy - if he loses without putting up much of a fight, that would be tantamount to admitting that everything Michael Moore and the Left has been saying about him is true.
Anyone counting on McCain to help anyone BUT McCain is a fool.

Genius? I think not.
...if he loses without putting up much of a fight, that would be tantamount to admitting that everything Michael Moore and the Left has been saying about him is true.
We think alike! But you beat me by 13 seconds...
The Democrats would love to show Bush is "all wind, no fire." Presidential passivity is exactly what they're counting on. There's no way John F*ckin' can win on his own but an inept Bush could make his job a heck of a lot of easier. To win, the White House needs to start going on the offense.
Thanks. You just described very well what it is that annoys people about McCain.
He's too buddy-buddy with his 'friends' in the Senate.
One gets the sense that he would fail in his duties as a Senator just for the opportunity to cover for his 'buds'. At least he fails his party when he emphasizes respect for Kerry/Edwards over informative discourse such their liberal voting record.
Senator McCain, the public has heard too many times how you 'respect your colleagues'. How about conveying some information and educating the public from the unique vantage point that you hold as Senator?
I do admit though that I like this characteristic about him when it comes to supporting the WOT.
I love Laura's show...obviously she has a reason to make this statement...I suspect it's a way to pressure John Mac, to fall in line....and to let right wingers know, this election is a crawl over glass to vote.
I think McPain is just keeping his options open for 2008 and he has to avoid getting the Bush folks (like me) any more PO'd at him than we already are. Despite his support for the war he is, IMHO, still a RINO.
I enjoy listening to Laura and I suspect it was a bit of an overstatement for effect with an unspoken follow-up message. As in, "you can kiss this election goodbye"...if the Republicans keep responding in this manner.
I think she is right on the money! It's just a feeling but I think President Bush IS in trouble! I pray God I'm wrong!
Which "Two Johns" photo is she talking about?
Trying to lock up the gay base are they? From pookie18 's Today's Toons 7/8/04:
I think she is correct. If Conservatives and NOT the Country Club Republicans, don't get fired up and motivated we are in trouble. Thats what she said. Denial ain't just a river in Egypt.
Did she mean "because this happened, we are doomed?" Or did she mean "if our party can't do any better than this, we'll be doomed?"
