The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Hey everyone! We are back. Got in from England yesterday evening and still trying to recover. (nine hour flight smashed up against a window, no leg room, then another couple of hours to Houston)
We had a good visit. After I recover a bit, will post pictures we took of our visit to Oxford having a pint or two at "The Eagle and The Child" and write a little more on how it all went. "The Eagle and The Child" was diff a "heart's desire". We did not get to the grave sites (Tolkien, Edith, CS Lewis, Warnie, and Joy) as it was as it was so cold and we could not really understand the directions. We were still "worn out" from the flight over and I was falling asleep in the car. . .not good. Terry said they were not in there anyway to comfort me, as I was so disappointed, but I would have like to have seen the sites anyway.
Did see a good bit of "Tolkin country", but afraid a good bit of the Shire has been scouged. Still some beautiful areas. . .we would go to areas and it would look like scenes from the films.
Hope you are all well.
BTW the "Home Page" looks great. Gettin' all fancy around here, huh?

My excuse is - boss sent me home sick this morning. I went back to bed and just got up for the second time. I still don't feel quite human yet.

Well Suzi, the 2004 has the third row seat, standard with the V-6. Yeah, but there's no room BEHIND that third seat for stuff like groceries!
I know, picky, picky!
That's great that LSA got a silver one! Yep, they're purty!

Ugh. Back. Did you find anything at Coldwater Creek, or are you waiting until after work?
What a day. My anime wasn't there. Drat drat drat. Drat. I was really looking forward to that, and now I either have to make a special trip to school, or wait until after break. My writing class, I got assigned to the group with three people who weren't in class, which makes things really difficult.
On the other hand, it's warm! Got to be almost 60!

I'm a baaaaad hobbit.LOL!--when you said that it reminded me of Lou Costello, which just made me realize something:
Hmmm. . .
To: JenB
I did browse the outlet at Coldwater Creek, but didn't see anything I HAD to have, at least not in my price range.
Did find this, which I like a lot...but not sure how it'd fit since it's not a brand I've had before. Awful purty, though.
Maybe should save my pennies and see if there are any more nice Pendleton things at the one place I sometimes buy actual NEW clothing. Pendleton outfits are normally about a hundred and fifty at the LEAST, but last year I got a nice two piece dress for about thirty five. And they're super quality.

I have such a little neuroticism against wearing pre-worn clothes, unless they're from a family member. It just feels nasty, to me. So I shop at cheap places, and stores that sell last year's fashions, but not actual thrift shops. Suppose I should get over that.
Oh well. At least I have no aversion to pre-read books.
