The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Evenin WN; been catching up but haven't seen anything bout the 65 Mustang. Those were very nice indeed. Mine was a '66 though it only had the 200 6 under the hood.

Jill has usually been tall for her age. But, she makes me look like a fleshed out woman. I mean, can you say *string bean?* Back then she was competing with boys older than her too. I don't think she passed 100 pounds until she got pregnant with her first child. She is taller than me. I am 5'9".

It sounds like she's actually a good height and weight for that type of fighting. Some Asian kickboxers are considerably shorter than that and not much heavier. Bruce Lee was in the 120-135 lb. range but he could hit as hard as someone a lot bigger because he got his whole body into it. A key for a smaller person to be good at martial arts is to perfect their whole-body coordination so that their whole mass is lined up behind their punches and kicks. This basically means keeping the center of gravity low with the knees well bent and good posture, keeping the elbows and knees lined up in a way that the body supports them when punching or kicking, and coordinating the waist with any turning movements. Some girls can actually learn this better than boys because 1) they have to in order to get any power into it and 2) they have a more intuitive feel for their bodies.

Evening Suzi-Rosie; Well Suzi, the 2004 has the third row seat, standard with the V-6.

Rosie, yup, they are 'real Purty'.

LSA's 2002 Millenium Silver Highlander Limited is setting in the driveway, as we type this. And we concur, 'Really Purdy' :-)

Oh, damn... don't tell me *that* was all my imagination too? [sigh] I don't know if I can take anymore disappointment. At least... I still have Ann Coulter. I'm sure the only reason she hasn't returned my calls lately is because she's just really busy. I'm sure that's it.

Maybe she'll be impressed if you tell her you used to write Jodie Foster? :) (Obscure allusion to Taxi Driver and MST3K episode "Mr. B Natural": "I have to go finish my letter to Jodie Foster." :)

Oh... don't get me started on Jeannie. That's not fair.

Well, I had to think of a blonde actress besides Marcia Brady! Feel free to substitute another--besides Ann Coulter, I mean :)

That's so twisted, it's funny.

Sigh... had to break up a fight between the oldest brother and the youngest sister. Little doofkabob didn't relay the car message properly, so my parents are mad, so my sister is really mad. And really stressed.

Evening Winmag; that is nice looking knife, still partial to the 'original'. It does have a great feel. Locks up like a bank vault.

Sounds like a good time to retreat to the room and watch some anime! But at least you broke up the fight; and as they say, "Blessed are the cheesemakers." :)

I didn't even have time to call Osage! But, I went by to have a look at that one truck I told you about. Don't want it. I dunno, it just didn't feel right to me.

Evening Sam & Ramius,

'Rachel Corrie' Model D-9; Took awhile to get, but it is a great descriptor.

'He who laughs last, didn't get it the first time' is yours truly, most definitely.

Well, if it didn't talk to you the way a great truck should, then just pass it by. Good move.

't's what I thought.

Turned off chillier here and rained some today. Shoulders and neck were bothering me so I had trouble getting excited about getting out and doing something. But, will get back at it tomorrow or Wednesday. :-)

This is LSA- Thanks very much, it is a great looking vehicle with lots of bells and whistles, but it's tearing me up having to give up my '85 STE. The Salvation Army is picking it up Wednesday (sniff).

Oh, I made cheese, all right.

My sister was majorly stressed and the brother is a - there are many things I could call him - moron, on occasion. I don't blame her much.

I decided no anime tonight! But I'm going to bed in a minute. Or ten.
