The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

We're supposed to get up to a foot of snow by Tuesday

It's supposed to start snowing here about 4am and continue into tomorrow night. Don't know how much we're gonna get; last I heard was 1-3 inches.

Air conditioning is way overused IMHO. LOL

I agree! I hate it when I go somewhere in the summer, and have to bring a light jacket because it's so refrigerated!!

http://www.netflix.com

You pay a flat $20 a month, you make a list of all the DVDs you want to see, and they will send you any three DVDs at a time.... keep them as long as you want, but they won't send the next one till you return one... We have like a hundred disks in our queue, and we get/return a new one almost every day. It is sortof a cult.... a lot of HHDs belong to it.

Me too! I like to dress for summer and go everywhere comfortably that way! I always have to keep jackets in my office because my classroom is freezing.

Extra credit? I don't need no steenkin' extra credit!

Besides, I've only got another month at that school anyway.

And frankly I hope there aren't any literary themes in manga. I hate that stuff getting in the way of a good story.

Hmmm... I'll have to think what goes with my decor. I was just thinking about the keeping away prowlers... :-)

...or, maybe I needed one earlier this year to keep away creepy students.

It is sortof a cult.... a lot of HHDs belong to it.

Just what I need, another cult. I've got a couple dozen DVDs that I own that I haven't found time to watch yet. I think I'd be paying Netflix $20 a month, and not get time to watch anything.

One thing that I'm finding about DVDs is that if it isn't a runaway hit, there may be only one pressing, so if you want it, grab it when it comes out.

I consider my DVD collection an investment in future viewing.

Evening, just got caught up. Been doing the 'dirt theraphy' thing today. We got the wheelbarrow, trimmed and cut up the rose of sharon bushes and pruned the treelike ones, respread compost and dirt, got the sand for the brick work. Nap felt good, so did the walk with Gypsy.

Hair, cool ribbons, magnificent lab. (but they usually are. :-)

OT: got some stuff with your name on it, you got planting pots?

Wneighbor: been busy with thinking bout the choices out there.. good luck with Z1.

Ecurbh: yup, done a bunch of those movies, comes with the territory.

Would the Rock keep prowlers away? (raises People's Eyebrow) :) Well, let me tell you a little story about what happened the last time the Rock met a prowler named Triple H, aka Hunter Hearst Helmsley.

One day, Triple H was prowling down Jabroni Drive, and he came to a building called the Smackdown Hotel, and decided to break in. Unfortunately, Triple H didn't realize the Smackdown Hotel was owned by the Rock, and the Rock was in fact standing behind him at that very moment.

"Freeze, security!", the Rock yelled suddenly. Triple H froze in fear. "What's your name, jabroni?" the Rock asked.

"My name is. . ."

"IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR NAME IS! I don't care if your name is Triple H, Triple A, Triple B, Triple C, Triple LMNOP! What matters is, this is the Rock's hotel, and you're breaking and entering. So now I'll tell you what's going to happen. At this hotel the Rock gives good customer service. So the Rock is going to take your bags--take your boots out of your bags--put your right boot on the Rock's right foot--shine it up real nice--turn it sideways--and shove it straight up your rudipoo candy [bleep]! IF YA SMELL--WHAT THE ROCK. . ." [raises People's Eyebrow]". . .IS--COOKIN'!"

Extra credit? I don't need no steenkin' extra credit!

What's thees about steenking badgers?

And frankly I hope there aren't any literary themes in manga. I hate that stuff getting in the way of a good story.

Well, then you could write a report on how there aren't any Western literary themes in manga :) The point is: free manga! :)

BTW, speaking of extra credit/school, how's the story coming?
