The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

He says he has some on VHS.... but we don't have a VCR, so they are door-stops.

Popcorn flicks are the best sort!
Hmmm... am considering my own options... perhaps watch a few of the best episodes of my anime. Or read a book, oooh, there's an idea.

Saw a new anime yesterday--ever seen this one? I guess it's like an anime version of X-Men:
Cyborg 009
Nine humans, kidnapped from their homes around the globe and subjected to cybernetic experiments at the hands of the evil Black Ghost organization, have banned together to use their newfound bionic abilities for the forces of good.
To: Fedora
No, never seen that. The animation looks a little odd, not quite the standard style, or is that just the images at that website?
May have to look for it. I have decided that before trying any new anime, I will go to Borders and read the manga. Of course that only works for anime with translated manga, but it's got to be easier than catching things on tv, and cheaper than renting a tape to see if I like it.

Wonder if libraries have manga? They have graphic novels sometimes.

When I went to see the Passion a couple of weeks ago, I hadn't seen a movie in a theater for a long time, except for the Lord of the Rings films.
I can't think of the last time I watched a movie on video. It's been a while - months probably. I think maybe Seven Samurai was the last one. Although I did watch A Christmas Carol with Alastair Sim around Christmas time (but I must have seen that one 100 times or more. We wore out the VHS copy and finally broke down and bought it on DVD.)

I'm with you.... I never go to theaters 'cept LoTR. But we have been watching a lot of movies lately since we drank the Netflix Kool-aid.

Don't you have any rocks layin' around in the yard? Those make good doorstops.

Heh, not our libraries. Most of the ones around here barely have books. The Carnegie probably would but I don't like going to town, nor do I have the time.
No, two days a week I shall take thirty minutes of lunch and run down to Barnes and Nobles (it's near the client site) and read a few chapters of manga until I find what I want.

Hmm--perhaps if you wrote a paper on literary themes in manga as extra credit for your lit class, your school library would be obligated to order manga for you. . . :)
