The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Thank you! It's good to be home, I'm exhausted!
Thanks to you and to all for the birthday greetings! We all went out to eat a Pappadeaux and I had a bowl of seafood gumbo and a oyster po-boy! Then, they gave me a free dessert and I ate till my throat literally constricted and wouldn't swallow another bite!

I woulda just cried. Randy Travis was one of mine and G's favorites, especially the beautiful gospel songs. Friday night was so much fun, I needed to keep that in focus. How'd your mom do with all the walking and such.

She did OK till we went back up those steps from the seats you know? She almost couldn't make it up the steps. Once we got past that, she did ok, but my brother came and practically carried her up those steps.

Beautiful Travis song, but this has been my earworm since the show Friday night. Ya'll remember him doing this one? I do. It was great!
MAYBE SOME DAY I'LL BE STRONG,
MAYBE IT WON'T BE LONG
I'LL BE THE ONE WHO'S TOUGH,
YOU'LL BE THE ONE WHO'S GOT IT ROUGH
IT WON'T BE LONG AND MAYBE I'LL BE REAL STRONG
MAYBE I'LL DO THINGS RIGHT,
MAYBE I'LL START TONIGHT
YOU'LL LEARN TO CRY LIKE ME,
BABY LET'S JUST WAIT AND SEE
MAYBE I'LL START TONIGHT AND DO THINGS RIGHT
MAYBE I'LL BE FAST AS YOU,
MAYBE I'LL BREAK HEARTS TOO
I'LL BET YOU SLOW DOWN,
WHEN YOUR TURN TO HURT COMES AROUND
MAYBE I'LL BREAK HEARTS AND BE AS FAST AS YOU
Especially the little 'uh' thing. Oh my.

The "My Comments Page" has been slow loading for me the past few days. You must be putting the forum software to sleep. Try giving it more interesting posts. Talk about giant flying ferrets or something.

If you are a pleasant Hobbit, Dwarf, Elf, Man of Gondor, Ent, Beorning, or other creature, we're glad to have you!
Heck, we even try to befriend the trolls. Hop in, don't be afraid if we start being weird at you.

"Earworm"--never heard that term before--that's a good word for when that happens I've been suffering from one for several days now. The worst thing is it's of my husband. I feel almost guilty for trying to kill it. I mean, I love the man, but I'm not a big fan of the song and I just can't take it anymore!

Do you have your Comments set on "Brief" or "full?"
BTW, I loved your LOTR song parodies!

BTW, I bought a copy of Heinlein's The Cat Who Walks Through Walls at the used bookstore today. Any good?

I should warn you, the Hole is addictive.
One might even say, hobbit-forming.

That's one of the late-period Heinleins. The ones I don't read. So I can't say one way or another.
