ecurbh's saddle pad to go with his new saddle was picked up yesterday, and we are gonna saddle up Bay later and try it out. There'll be pictures prolly!

Rosie: unfortunately, yes. However, she was an excellent early-warning for thunderstorms, she could hear them in Topeka, 60 miles away. :-)

Wow.... you would have to fix that pointy button ~and~ sharpen them? I don't have to, but my conscience won't let me send out the very best knife I can. I estimate these Kershaws would require about half an hour each to get into an acceptable state.
The Schrade, OTOH, needed about 30 seconds of stropping. That was all I've had to do for it, so far. It opens more easily, and with either hand. The blade is a bit thinner, and the plastic handles don't feel as "solid", although they are plenty comfortable. But these are knives, and not crowbars. The Schrade is starting to look better.

Whew! Back from a LONG walk. All around town...more than once, really. Got some fancy chocolate from the natural foods / gourmet foods place and I'm gonna sit down for awhile with a big glass of milk, some chocolate, and a good book.
I'm also thinking...you know, if I could do that walk (or just one big loop) every day...there's no reason I couldn't have a bigger dog here, someday. Though I don't know how I'd handle the coldest days. Of course...if'n it was a retriever mix or retriever mix with good retrieving instincts, I could probably get away with just walking a few blocks to the little park nearby and just throwin' something for awhile. Again...dunno how I'd handle winter, since it's dark by four.
Of course, any of this would have to wait until after Fiona is gone...by which time I'll probably have moved on, both from this house and my retriever craving. ;-) But it was a good dream!

If you got a big older dog with the right temperament, they don't necessarily want more than to crash on the couch and mebbe walk when you want to.... ;~D
I don't think all big dogs really ~need~ that much 'room to run'.

You know...when I was at the vet with Cleo the other day and waiting for a minute, I noticed that the kennel that I got my original dog from had an ad up on the bulletin board - not for puppies (I think he usually has a waiting list, for one) - just his name, the kennel name and a phone number. It's almost tempting to plan to call someday to ask if he knows of any older dogs from his lines that might be looking for a new home.
*sigh* I guess it isn't fair to Fiona that I'm always thinkin' like this...and I do like her a lot...but I love big mellow dogs, too!

Gorgeous day up here today!
Don't know about the other big dogs out there...but mine aren't going to let me sit still.
Chance got in a great chase across our back yard with a squirrel this morning. Whoosh. From one end to the other -- dumb squirrel was on the ground in our yard, not on the fence!
Squirrel made it through the bottom of the fence in time, glad to say. Then a train went by down on the water -- and Chance proceeded to answer it's horn with a hound-dog howl. What a riot! He'd have made a Coon Hound jealous. Matched the train horn perfectly.

Thank you! - I just ~so~ like how it turned out. I am nervous to make a bouquet because I am not sure how to blend the rosie-cotton hobbity headpiece with the Hawaiian tropical thing goin' on in Sonya's dress.
Well, Have to come up with somethin'.... Sonya and I need something to do with our hands.... we don't have any pockets to stuff them in. ;~D

Hair, that flowery thingy is just GORGEOUS! Perfect!
I am HEADACHE FREE for the first time in 4 days! Woke up free of it! I guess I finally adjusted to the half and half decaf coffee.
Steve has never even noticed it. No complaints of headache...only a slight feeling of being tired in the evening after a hard days work, when one is supposed to feel tired and he never has because of being hyped up on caffeine.
He's being going to bed early, getting a good night's sleep.
He only lost 2 pounds this week, but he's not discouraged. He hasn't missed a meal or lacked for any thing, and he still lost weight...he's happy. Last night he craved a sweet, so I roasted him 6 almonds with Splenda on them..he eats almonds very slowly anyways, and these took him an hour!
One more week and I cut the hald and half decaf coffee with equal amount of pure decaf...my math is so poor that I can't tell you what that would be...3/4 decaf, 1/4 regular?
I don't know...I'm a moron.
Anyway, I'm happy to be headache free!
