The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Couple navy blue small carnations would do it....
To: HairOfTheDog
Yep. They would. So, can we safely say you're doing this in blues? And maybe yellow?

It's lookin' that way!

I am now inspired that I can make the bouquet myself, if I can keep it simple...If you have a nice crafts store close by, I'm sure they'll have bouquet forms. That will take the guesswork out of it for you! Try some hanging greenery, like a mini ivy, mixed in with the other flowers.

Well, ya know, sometimes it's just better to let things fall into place than to make choices! hehehe Can be a lot more fun that way.

Couple navy blue small carnations would do it....Instead of carnations, see if they have some dark blue alstromeria, or trumpet flowers. They're small, but, they'll resemble in style the large vanilla colored flowers in Sonya's dress.

I will look for whatever they have in dark blue... there weren't a lot of choices in dark blue! - Lots of yellow.
They did have those bouquet form things!
To: HairOfTheDog
I'm kinda sure that if you check another store they might have some dark blue somewhere. Of course, I know it does require bravery to explore town.

Well, this was Michael's, I am not sure we have a better store than that, but I'll see!
To: HairOfTheDog
Yep. Michaels usually has everything like that. I dunno. Ya think they might get some more stuff in? I'm sure whatever you find in darker blue would fit though. Do ya'll have a Hobby Lobby?

Good evening! I really like the crown of flowers! Nicely done!
And blue is a nice color for you. You'll look lovely!
Wow...pretty quiet posting day today. I was gone all day and still able to catch up without a struggle.

So what are your day and night temps now..... What season is it? - and does it matter? ;~D It's ranging from about 45 in the morning to mid 80's in the evening. I guess you could call it spring. It hasnt rained at all this month. Things are going well, and we are nearly 5 months into this. Almost to the halfway mark. THat will be a milestone. Steve

So what'd I miss in the last 300-400 posts?Probably the same stuff I did--LOL! I just got off the phone after a marathon 8-hour argument with a friend who's--well, not a liberal, more precisely a disgruntled veteran who's a former Republican but is now anti-Bush/anti-government because he believes in various conspiracy theories he's read on the Internet (Iraq was really about oil and Halliburton, etc.). It was a heated discussion and my nerves are now very fried, which is why I'm still up four hours after my bedtime. I can tell Monday is going to be a long day--sigh. Well, gonna try to get to bed here, just needed to share my woes with y'all--I'm pretty stressed out about it right now. How are you?--LOL!

Good Morning All; kinda rainy, rained all night, pretty windy yesterday, did some tire kicking, drove a couple, today should be an easy one, will try not to think so much-gives me a headache. :-)
Gypsy doesn't seem to mind the rain or the brief thunderstorm we had which is a pleasant change of pace.

Good morning! Er.... Evening!
I guess you could call it spring. It hasnt rained at all this month.
I wouldn't call it spring with no rain!
But I wouldn't call that desert human habitat either, and millions of people live there. ;~D
Good morning Hobbit Hole....

I spent some time working over the Kershaw knife. First, I filed off the first "step" of the thumb stud. It took about ten minutes to get it right. This is the "before" picture:

I almost, but not quite, broke into the tapped hole inside the stud. I was somewhat concerned that the screw holding it in was quite loose. That was fixed by using loctite. The blade is countersunk on one side for the screw thread, making switching things to the other side for left-handers impractical. This is the "after" view:

The knife will also take more work to put an acceptabled edge on it. None of this was needed on the late, lamented CRKT Sampson. Evaluation is continuing.

Good morning!
Beautiful sunny day here, and in the 40s. I'm heading out for a walk. It's too nice to be indoors!
OB...I forget, was Samantha afraid of storms?
Fiona isn't afraid of anything, really...which is both good and bad. *sigh*
