The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

So....are you going home at lunch? I'd hate to leav Miss Kitty all day without being able to eat and drink. That's probably the best plan. I'll have to rush a bit, but I've done that drive before during lunch and it can be done. Plus my boss likes cats. ;-) So I can probably work it into the schedule.
She's on the bed asleep now...but looks kinda sad. If I wasn't wandering around doing things and could watch her, I'd take it off...but maybe later.

I think OB's cats are dog-friendly to begin with. Annie and Samantha were the best of pals.

Well, I am back from the consignment sale. Spent $37.00 on almost as many items. Woohoo! Babygirl is set for clothes for almost a year. Was there yesterday, and got an infant carseat pretty cheap. I decided to go back today when the clothes are 1/2 price. Glad I got the carseat yesterday cuz there weren't any left to sell this morning.
Just finished a pepperoni-n-cheese sandwich on homemade jalapeno-cheese bread. Yummy!

btw, have a close friend that's leaving for Iraq in a few weeks, any chance I could get one of the last HH knives? Joe's father was a Marine rifleman on Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. Joe's patriotism, Faith in God, and dedication to country and Corps are inestimable. He is a well deserving candidate.Freepmail me his address, and I'll send him one of our last CRKTs. I have five left over after taking care of the rest of smaagee's buddies. After that, I have to fill the supply line with something new.

Exciting news for fans of the
Lord of the Rings scores! Found this posted on a movie music message board...
There IS, in fact, a box set of all the music from the trilogy in the works. Shore said it will likely be 2 discs of Fellowship, 3 of the Two Towers, and 3 of Return of the King. A 9th disc (possibily a DVD) featuring some rare material (along the lines of the extended edition DVD appendices - looks at the scoring process, themes that didnt make it into the movie, etc.) is also tentatively scheduled to be part of the release. He didnt give a release date for it, but nonetheless, exciting news.

Scott, Overtaxed is correct on all counts, Annie was a stray kitten that was raised at the Vet's office down the street, LSA went there to get some dog food for Samantha, and came back with the dog food and a nine month old kitty, right before Christmas, three years ago.
We have two cats and one dog, which is all the city allows. That has helped over the years when friends have offered additional critters. :-)
To: HairOfTheDog
So, are ya gonna get your hair done up in little ringlets like that? :-)

As close as I can come to that - no perm, but curled into ringlets!

Wow. The city tells you how many critters you can have! I don't know that I like that....

Gonna go to a salon?
Grama taught me to make my hair do that ringlet thing a real old fashioned way. She called 'em rag curls. You get little strips of fabric and twist your hair around the rag strips when wet. Tie the ends of the strips together and let hair dry. I used to do that sometimes when I wanted curls and it worked quite nicely.
