The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

woke up some time in the middle of the night, with an incredible crick in my neck from sleeping sitting up,

I am really bad about that! I hope you slept straight after that and that it's better this morning.

I don't think I'm going to eat for a while today! Still feeling full!

I think I'm gonna have to get my own shirt. :-)

Which means I'll have to go shopping. You know I only go shopping for really *good* friends! egads!

or i need to get my sewing machine fixed.... that would do it.

Blast it Jim! I don't like having my atoms spread accross the galaxy.

I'm a doctor, not an asteroid belt! :)

My favorite McCoy line is from "This Side of Paradise" where he was under the influence of the spoors:

Sandoval: Well, Doctor, I've been thinking about what sort of work I could assign you to.

McCoy: What do you mean what sort of work? I'm a doctor.

S: Not anymore, of course. We don't need you...not as a doctor.

M: Oh, no? Would you like to see how fast I can put you in a hospital?

S: I am the leader of this colony. I'll assign you whatever work I think suitable.

M: Just a minute. You'd better make me a mechanic. Then I can treat little tin gods like you.

ROFL!

We aren't doing the church thing this morning. We are being lazy today. Seriesly though, I did make some breakfast: Rosemary potatoes, homemade waffles, and scrambled eggs with oregano and tabasco. Tasted like we had just gone out to eat at Cafe Brazil (a restaurant we go to eat Sunday-brunch sometimes on HWY 75). I meant to make coffee, too, but forgot completely about it.

Sonya found little hawaiian dresses with a matching shirt for the best man.... I think she's gonna order something like this...

And though we are thinking of putting ecurbh in the crisp white shirt and khaki pants.... it isn't really gonna be a Hawaiian wedding.... just a beach/Jimmy Buffett thing with a little nautical stuff thrown in.

So is Bear gonna loan you the shirt?

Well, no, I'm still hoping to wear it myself in Washington. I need to get a few more shirts though, so I can wear a different one each day we're there.

Well, still don't know if we'll be able to make the trip, but I haven't given up on it yet!

Yeah, the crick seems to be gone. Think we are going to work off this breakfast with some organizing of the house. Yesterday's garage sale went well, but I only sold about $25 worth of stuff. That means that the table and chairs came back home with me. Need to find a good spot for them. Right now, I have the baby's room set up as an office. Need to get my computer and things out of there. The table would make a great desk. I'm thinking we could put it in our bedroom in the corner, with one of the chairs. The rest of the chairs can go downstairs, methinks.

LOL! Elf-boy and PE are talking on tin can phones to each other right now. This morning, he told me that he wanted to grow up and be just like dad. Love it!

I missed that one. Towards the end, the series took on more and more leftist issues, and I lost interest in a preaching coroner. So what was his first name?

IMO (based mostly on recently reviewing the reruns, though I did catch the tail end of the original series when I was very young) Quincy was at his best at first when he was a coroner/detective alternating with Columbo on the NBC Sunday Mystery Movie. Later when he became a coroner/detective/activist for all medically-related issues, although I still find the show entertaining because Jack Klugman is so funny, it got to be a little absurd. After a while you start to wonder, is Quincy a coroner, a PI, a health care activist, an environmentalist, a social worker. . .?--just how many degrees did this guy have?--LOL!

I hope so too!

Rain may fall and wind may blow
And there'll still be
Many miles be still to go!

Sounds like an awesome breakfast! I might've eaten again for that! :-)

I'm doin' the stay at home thing here too. I shouldn't.... I gotta find a new church here. The one I was at was great for Myranda with the youth... but I just don't have any place there. I need a place where I can be useful! :-)

Of course, I'm going to have to find this church to be useful... :-)

Sonya is ordering what? The bridesmaid dress? Or the wedding dress?

A bridesmaid dress like that one. The site has a lot of matching sets. Whatever she orders, we'll order the same pattern for ecurbh's best man.

We are only having one attendant each.... I hope everyone enjoys going more if they don't have to participate and can just have fun.

Am I right?

This morning, he told me that he wanted to grow up and be just like dad. Love it!

Outstanding! You see, this is why I don't want to adopt a kid. I already raised 2 without dads. And while Jill always knew her dad and visited him every year, it isn't the same. I know one good parent is better than *no* good parents... Dennis used to tell me that. I guess if he were still here and we still hadn't had our own we would've adopted some by now. The plan was to have one and adopt one to 3 more kids after that. For him after growing up in an orphanage he was very adamant about the need to adopt older kids that weren't adoptable by people wanting babies. I would raise more kids... but I don't want to do it alone again.

Yes, you are right about a casual wedding being more fun for everyone ... but this is your day! You should have the number of attendants you want... That will not affect the amount of fun everyone has. The number of attendants is not an issue. I may be wrong but instead of choosing to have one attendant for that reason it seems to me that because Sonya is the one long term friend that you talk about counting on all the time... that would be more the reason to have just her. If there is some other old friend then have her too!

Matter of fact, this G.R.I.T.S even determined that she would pick and choose what "rules" suited her. I had 3 attendants. Dennis had only 2. Because that was the number of friends we each wanted. You two do what is right for you, just keeping it casual insures the enjoyment of us guests!

Yep.... Sonya has been there with me since we wuz little. If I were to ask anyone else, it would be you and Ruthy.... The Hobbit Hole was more involved in ecurbh and I meeting and getting together than anyone else! My friend Tiffney had been around a long time too, and Lisa who freaked out about Sonya's wedding (would be fun just to stress her out again!).... but I just think it will be simplest to keep the wedding party smaller than the number of guests! LOL

I am just glad to have you guys there with us.

You only own one shirt now?

Only two of those nice Hawaiian shirts... one red (the one I wore last night) and one blue. I want four or five different ones, with different prints and colors, so that if we're there four or five days I can wear a different one each day!
